West Springfield Little League

Supporting Northern Virginia Youth Baseball Since 1972

HISTORY OF WSLL

In 1972, the West Springfield Little League (“WSLL”) was formed by local parents who wanted a strong, successful and healthy place for boys and girls to learn the fundamentals of baseball and virtues of good sportsmanship.  The league also wanted to ensure that the players represented West Springfield, and the surrounding areas within our Little League boundaries (e.g. Burke, Fairfax Station and Springfield), by continually producing competitive baseball teams that contend in the District, state, regional and national levels.

Today, WSLL continues to support these values.  Between the volunteerism of our parents and the generosity of our sponsors, the WSLL values are able to be instilled in every one of our players. These values are a big deal for a child who has learned to have fun with, and play competitively in, baseball.  Finally, WSLL hopes that, in addition to baseball knowledge, we provide other skills to our players who graduate from our league to become productive members of our community.

LEAGUE YEARBOOK ARCHIVE

Each spring season our yearbook committee develops a yearbook that is distributed to all playing families. Interested in helping contribute as a league photographer? Get in touch with the committee at [email protected]. Please see below for an archive of past yearbooks.

WSLL Mission

The mission of West Springfield Little League (WSLL) is dedicated to supporting youth of our community in developing the qualities of citizenship, teamwork, and leadership through the pure enjoyment of baseball. By advocating the Little League virtues of character, courage, and loyalty, WSLL program is designed to develop superior citizens rather than superior athletes

WSLL Core Objectives

  • Create a fun, safe, and competitive environment in which our players can develop the skills to play baseball for years to come.

  • Provide a positive and organized team environment in which our players can acquire an appreciation for sportsmanship, teamwork, pride and integrity.

  • Develop managers and coaches that advocate the values and objectives of WSLL

  • Improve the overall experience for players, parents, and coaches to create a culture that not only attracts player and volunteer participation, but keeps them coming back year after year.
