The All Star Experience

The All Star and Honors experience is a unique opportunity for baseball and players and their families to build new friendships in the context of a competitive baseball experience. This summary highlights some of the features of this once in a lifetime opportunity.

Post Season Tournament Mission Statement:

It shall be the objective of Cedar Mill Little League to field post-season teams that can best compete in tournament play, with the emphasis on advancement in those tournaments, and the ultimate goal of winning championships.

Post Season Note: At the end of the regular season, CMLL will field three All Star teams to compete in the District 4 tournaments at the 8-10, 9-11, and Majors (10-12) levels. The winners of these three tournaments advance to the respective state tournaments. For the 8-10 and 9-11 teams, State is the end, but the winner of the State Majors tournament advances to Regionals and eventually to the Little League World Series. The majority of the players for the three All Star teams come from the Majors divisions with a few coming from Minors. District 4 also offers honors tournaments at the 8-10 and 11-12 levels so that players who do not make an All Star team or cannot commit to the timeframe can also experience post season play. These players will come from the Majors, Minors, and AAA divisions.

Post season participation is a unique opportunity for our players, and the expectation is that the tournaments and the practices leading up to the tournaments take priority over other activities, including sports camps, other sports, and vacations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Posted Jan 3, 2016

  • What is an all-star, and how is the team selected? - The All Star tournaments take place after the regular season and are completely separate from the regular season. The 9-10 year old All Stars are selected by the AAA, MInors and Majors managers. The 10-11 and 11-12 (Majors) All Star teams are selected by the Majors managers.
  • Do I have to sign my child up to be an all-star? - Yes. AAA, Minors and Majors players will be asked to sign up toward the end of the regular season. Additional costs apply.
  • If my child isn’t picked to be an all-star in my league can he/she go to another league to play all-stars? - No. Little League International has some very strict rules regarding which league a player can play with. Oregon District 4 does offer an Honors tournament for those who are not selected for All Stars. This provides more players with the post season experience.
