A Baseball

Single A (boys & girls / ages 6-8) - Typically 1st - 2nd Grade

For players born between September 1, 2010 and August 31, 2012, this division is geared toward 1st and 2nd graders with a few advanced Kindergarteners also playing. A Baseball is the first level of "coach-pitch". It has little more competitive environment than T-ball and plays closer to the real rules of baseball. Balls and strikes are counted and scores are kept. All pitching is done by the coaches. Repetition and enhancement of baseball fundamentals are the focal point of this level. Teams will be formed with a maximum of 12 players per roster. Teams will be expected to play and/or practice 2-3 times per week.

This program is specifically for players ages 6-8 that have a good grasp of most, if not all, T-Ball criteria, and ready to learn the following basics during their Single A season. Please note players can play one or two years in the A level before moving to the AA level. Your A baseball player should be ready to learn the following basics during the season:

  • How to see the ball out of the pitchers (coaches) hand, and hit the ball on a regular basis
  • Understand how outs are made; including groundouts, force outs, tag outs and fly outs
  • Understand that when you are put out you must go sit on the bench with your teammates
  • Catchers should have a general idea of where to squat and be able to catch the ball and throw it back to the pitcher in a timely manner

2020 Registration Fees $170

Be sure to check here for Equipment Requirements.

TBD: Coaches meeting.

March 2020: Practices begin. You will most likely practice twice during the week and once on a Saturday. We have traditionally never had practices or games on Sundays.

April 2020: Opening Day. First game!

June 2020: Last day for Single A games.

Practices and games: Your team will have either have practices or games two to three times per week, Monday-Thursday and on Saturdays. There is no way of telling you which days you will practice right now. Game schedules are not known either. Each division in Cedar Mill Little League has a league coordinator who puts together the practice and game schedule for their respective league. By the week of the coaches meeting, each coordinator will have been given their fields and times they have available and will start making the schedule.

Any special requests or considerations should be noted during registration so that appropriate consideration can be taken when placing players on teams.
