Resources for Coaches and Parents

Burlington Parks & Recreation wants to help you feel successful so that everyone involved -- coaches, players, parents -- all have a great experience.

COACHING REQUIREMENTS
All coaches must complete the following steps* in this order:
1. SafeSport (SS) Certificate Training
First-Timers
Refreshers
2. Sudden Cardiac Arrest (Intro to Safety Course)
3. Concussion Compliance (Intro to Safety Course)
4. Background Check (RMA)

How to guide for completing the Coaching Requirements: Click Here for English

*Burlington Parks & Recreation staff will walk you through these requirements (see bulleted training steps below), but here is more explanation from Washington Youth Soccer: https://wys-bgc.affinitysoccer.com/reg/index.asp

*Easiest to complete these requirements and registration via a desktop computer or laptop

Why do I need to complete all of the certificates?

  • Certificates are mandated by federal and state laws, along with US Soccer and USYS.  Washington Youth Soccer's goal is to be the top association and make soccer the preeminent sport in the USA. The extra safety precautions are a step in that direction.
  • Without a current approved background check, you will not have access to teams.
