North Haven Soccer Club College Scholarship

The North Haven Soccer Club is giving $500 college scholarships to two current or former members of the NHSC who are heading off to college. Guidelines for the application process are as follows:

1) Applicant must be a graduating High School Senior who will be attending their first year of college in the fall of 2025. The applicant may not be a child of any of the current officers of the North Haven Soccer Club or a child of the current NHSC Scholarship Committee members.

2) Applicant must be a current or former member of the North Haven Soccer Club, either as a player, coach, volunteer or referee for at least 5 years. State in what capacity you were involved with the club and what years.

3) Applicant must expect to graduate with a "B" average or higher. Submit your High School transcript (official or unofficial).

4) Submit an essay of at least 200 words, "What soccer has meant to me…"

5) Letter of recommendation is optional.

6) All of the above must be postmarked or emailed no later than June 1, 2025. Please include contact information, including phone number and email address.

NHSC Annual Meeting 6/24/2024 Board Nominations

The 2024 annual meeting of the North Haven Soccer Club will be held on June 24, 2024, at 7:15pm at the town Rec center. In accordance with club by-laws, at this meeting we will elect the club officers for the 2024-25 season. The nominating committee is proposing the following slate of officers:

· 1st Vice President: Kristie Whitcomb
· Vice President: Joe Tarasuk
· Treasurer: Christy Cicarella
· Secretary: Tracy Mello

Anyone wishing to contest the candidates proposed by the nominating committee must submit to the Secretary ([email protected]) a petition signed by not less than 15 members of the NHSC at least ten days prior to the annual meeting.

All NHSC members are welcome to join the annual meeting. Details and agenda will be sent in a few weeks.

The act of a majority of the members present shall rule. Notice of meeting to appear on the club website one week prior to meeting

6.3 The annual meeting will take place at the scheduled monthly June meeting of each year and shall elect officers. Notice of the annual meeting shall be given by notice in any local publication and/or on the club’s web-site at least 30 days prior to the annual meeting.

May 8th, 2023: Important Town Hearing Regarding Soccer Fields

As many of you are aware, our club is growing (a great problem to have!) and our primary field (Memorial Field) is overused. A small group of NHSC members met with First Selectman Mike Freda to identify additional field space for our soccer players. A comprehensive evaluation of existing fields was completed and discussed with Mike and the recommendation has been made to add lights to the women’s existing rugby field and to allow us access to that field during the fall season. As a result, we are hoping for your support of a proposal to the North Haven Planning & Zoning Commission scheduled for Monday, May 8th at 7:00pm (North Haven Library Main conference room). If you are in support, please add your name to this google form. A full description of the application (section 8-24 referral – application of the Town of North Haven for various athletic facility improvements) is below.

At the upcoming public Planning and Zoning Meeting scheduled for Monday night, May 8th at 7:00pm (North Haven Library Main conference room) the commission will vote on an application for various athletic facilities. Included in the project is (1) new 6’ high chain link fencing, associated gates, and aluminum grandstand bleachers at the existing turf fields, (2) a new water main connection from Maple Avenue for the Junior Varsity’s Field’s existing irrigation system, (3) existing baseball field renovations, including field shifts and low glare LED lighting improvements to existing lighting, (4) existing softball field renovations with field modifications, including low glare LED lighting improvements to existing lighting, (4) existing softball field renovations with field modifications, including low glare LED lighting improvements to existing lighting, (5) new signage at the Sackett Point Rd. and School Dr. entrance and replacement signage at the Maple Ave entrance to the DeMayo Complex, and (6) new low glare LED lighting and poles at the ‘all-purpose’ soccer and lacrosse field.
