Dear NHSC Community,
Now that we’ve reached the end of the season, I wanted to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to all of you for your cooperation, commitment, and efforts to make Fall soccer a success. We were coming off of a canceled Spring season that included a quarantine, an unexplainable need to hoard toilet paper, distance learning, and lots of family time.
This soccer season was desperately needed for so much more than footwork, shooting, or goaltending--it was needed for the overall health and well-being of our community. I don’t think it’s coincidental that as soon as the kids were back out on the pitch, running around with friends and having fun that their collective mood, attitude, and mental outlook improved. The fact that we were able to have a relatively uninterrupted season from our youngest Kickstarters to our oldest travel teams is a testament to you, your athletes, our volunteers, our coaches, our referees, and especially our Covid-19 compliance leader, Kristie Whitcomb.
Kristie has gone above and beyond the expectations of a volunteer; she ensured that the club had a Covid-19 protocol in place prior to registration as well as serving as liaison between the health department, CJSA, South Central District and our club to ensure the safety of our players and families. On behalf of NHSC, we are extremely grateful for Kristie’s time and commitment. Please be sure to give her a socially-distant thank you when you see her.
Looking forward, I wish you a safe and healthy winter. Ideally, we have a ‘normal’ Spring season, but I know if we are still contending with Covid in April, we have a strong, committed soccer community that will again rise to the occasion. Stay tuned for updates of our annual Winter clinic and the opening of Spring registration shortly after the first of January.
