On October 6, Valley Center Pop Warner Cheer competed at the 2024
West Coast Conference Cheer and
Dance Competition at the San Diego
Convention Center.
Valley Center sent three cheerleading teams who all gave stellar performances. The Mitey Mite and Junior
Varsity teams displayed outstanding
showmanship, with both capturing
Second Place for their Show Cheer
routines! This earned them spots to
compete at Regionals in Long Beach
in November!
The Flag team had ten cheerleaders ages 5-6 years old, led by Head
Coach Heather Burke.
For many, this was their first time
performing in front of such a large
crowd and they knocked it out of
the park! They performed a fun
exhibition routine with confidence,
enthusiasm, and bright smiles.
They looked absolutely adorable,
brimming with such excitement in
their shiny uniforms and sparkling
bows.
The Mitey Mite team were
superstars with twenty-three cheer-
leaders ages 7-9 years old, led by
Head Coach Christina Gulley.
They performed a dynamic show
cheer routine with precisely timed
ripples and level changes, hitting all
their marks.
Mitey Mite competed in the Large
team category and demonstrated
amazing stunts and pyramid combi-
nations. They flew high and ripped
across the stage with multiple back
walkovers.
The Junior Varsity team had nine-
teen cheerleaders ages 10-13 years
old, led by Head Coach Melissa
April. They performed an intricately
choreographed show cheer routine
with multiple pyramids, high energy
stunt transitions and sharp motions.
Junior Varsity competed in the
Medium team category and showed
fantastic overall technique from the
height of their jumps to their walk-
over-splits-Valdez tumbling passes.
They shone in multiple pyramids
in the high stunt category and ended
with a showstopping dance section.
The teams next prepare to travel to
Long Beach and set their sights on
qualifying for Nationals in Florida.
