Robin Murdoch, Head Coach Junior Varsity, Association Cheer & Dance Coordinator

Introduction:
Hi, I’m Coach Robin! This is my 5th year coaching with VCPW Cheer. I also have the honor of serving on our Board as the Association Cheer Coordinator (ACDC).  My hope is to grow our program within our community so more can enjoy the thrills of cheer!

Were you a cheerleader in school? If so, what position(s)?
Yes, I was a Flyer!

Who is your favorite Disney Princess?
Belle, because I love to read.

What is a unique job you’ve had?

I’ve flown all over the world as an airline investigator.

Would you rather have bows or poms?

Blinged out bows for sure!

Coffee or Hot Chocolate?

I live for hot chocolate!

Have you ever gone skydiving or bungee jumping?

I went skydiving on my 40th birthday and absolutely loved it!

Do you prefer reading or watching tv?

Reading, reading, reading :)

What do you love about coaching?

The teamwork and camaraderie among the cheerleaders and coaches as they build a cheer sisterhood. If someone is sad, the team rallies around their friend. I love seeing their faces light up after they’ve nailed a difficult stunt, and seeing their tears of joy after they’ve left it all on the mat after competition!

Christina Gulley, Head Coach PeeWee

Introduction:
I’m Coach Christina.  Generally, a spirited smile exudes from me!  This is my 3nd year as head coach, 4th year coaching with VCPW.  I have over a decade of cheerleading experience from my own Pop Warner days through high school (more than a few years ago).  I love this sport and I get such fulfillment making relationships and coaching our youth to have fun, grow in skill, and gain confidence.  I'm also on the VCPW Board, managing our IT & social media.

Were you a cheerleader in school? If so, what position(s)?
Yes, I started cheer around 3rd grade in Pop Warner, then cheered in Middle School, and cheered all four years at Vista High School. I went from being a Vista Panther to now a Valley Center Jaguar.  I was a backspot.

Who is your favorite Disney Princess?
Moana.  I love her adventurous spirit & I relate to her desire to travel!

What is a unique job you’ve had?
I opened my own pet sitting & dog walking business back in the day.  I was “The Pet Nanny.”

Would you rather have bows or poms?
Poms.  The bright colors and shimmer are especially eye catching.  They make even a simple routine looking exciting.

Coffee or Hot Chocolate?
Coffee, with yummy creamer.  Can’t start my day without it.

Have you ever gone skydiving or bungee jumping?
Nope.  But I’ve gone zip lining high above the jungles of Costa Rica - a terrifying thrill!

Do you prefer reading or watching tv?
Reading - both physical books and listening to audio books.

What do you love about coaching?
I love to encourage each athlete to strive for excellence - both personally and athletically.  As a cheer coach, the team gains skills & confidence throughout the season, and then they get to compete with all they’ve learned.  It’s amazing to see the growth from the beginning of a season to the end.  And each member of the team adds a sparkle of personality and capability to the team overall.  I appreciate the opportunity to guide them to have fun, learn how to perform the various cheer skills, and continue their love of the sport.

Denise Correa, Head Coach Mitey Mite
