GENERAL FAQ

Q: How do I sign my child up for VCPW?
A: Under the Registration Info tab, click on ... Any available programs show based on your athlete's age (birthday as of July 31 of the season year).  During the registration process, note the required forms for registration completion.  Stay tuned for paperwork turn in and due dates.

Q: What is the required paperwork?
A: After
you have registered your athlete(s), the following documents must be filled out and turned in: Birth Certificate, Player Contract form, Medical History Form, and Report Card (2024-2025 school year).  The VCPW player agent will announce the paperwork turn in dates. Stay up to date with season dates, announcements & helpful info via our website: vcpopwarner.com and social media.  Download the forms here: 2025 Participant Contract and Medical Form - combined.pdf

Q:  What is the Registration Fee refund policy? Can I receive a refund if my child decides not to participate after the season has started?
A: We offer a full refund until May 31 at 11:59 PM.  This aligns to the end of our  regular rate window for registration.  Your refund would be minus the cost of money already spent for your athlete prior to that day, such as cheer bow, football jersey, camp registration, etc.).

Q: Do you offer financial aid?
A: We do offer limited financial aid, and applications will be reviewed on a first come first served basis. All requests will be reviewed by the VCPW Board.  Please reach out to [email protected] to request financial aid.

Q. How many games are in the season?
A: There are generally 10 games in a season, + possibility of playoffs/championship games.

Q. Are games cancelled if it rains?
A: We play and cheer at  games - rain or shine!

Q. Who are the coaches?
A: All coaches and student demonstrators are 100% volunteer based that consist of parents, family members, community members, and high school students. All rostered staff are required to pass a National-level extensive background check, fingerprinting, including YCADA certifications (A National Pop Warner requirement).  Check out our Coach Bios pages to get to know this season's head coaches for football and cheer.

Q. What is Certification and is it a requirement to attend?
A: Certification is a MANDATORY event for all VCPW cheerleaders and football players to have their registration paperwork formally confirmed by Conference Officials. Please block off the entire date. Time schedules are not provided by Conference officials until approximately 2 weeks prior to the event. If players do not make this date, they are dropped from rosters and ineligible to practice or cheer for at least the first game or later depending on Official availability.

Q. What are the requirements for parents?
A: We ask that all parents volunteer during the season, such as working at the snack bar or fundraisers as they come up.  We ask that all parents ensure their athlete arrives on time and attends all practices, games, and competitions.

 CHEER FAQ

Q: Can my child cheer on a team with their friends?
A: Players are assigned to teams based on their eligible age range, total amount of registered participants, and total number of coaching volunteers. We are not always able to place players on teams to be with family or friends or to match a football team. We do our best to keep peers of the same age on the same teams, and we consider factors such as parent hardships or keeping siblings together if possible.

Q: Is there still "Flag Cheer"?
A: As of this year, there is no longer a "flag cheer" division. We now have Tiny Mite, which is a competitive division, meaning they will compete at multiple competitions. The Tiny Mite division cheerleaders cheer for the 7U (flag) football division. This cheer division ranges from 5-7 years old and is great for beginner cheerleaders.

Q. What’s the dress code for cheer?
A: Proper practice attire is always required.  The same rules apply to games and competitions, in the uniform.

  • Cheer shorts, shirt, socks, and athletic tennis shoes.
  •  All undergarments are to be appropriately covered.
  •  Hair must be pulled away from neck, and tightly secured with hair band.
  •  Fingernails trimmed short for safety reasons. No press on nails or acrylics.
  •  The only jewelry permitted are medical alert bracelets/necklaces.
  • All earrings MUST be removed for practices, games, and competitions.
  •  Not permitted: No halter or crop tops, booty shorts, spaghetti strap shirts, jeans (short or long), flip flops, sandals, boots, crocs. No jewelry, including earrings, watches, body piercings, necklaces, etc. No band aids allowed over newly pierced ears. All earrings must come out -No exceptions.

Q:  What if my child misses cheer practice will they be able to compete in competition or cheer at the game?
A:  Attendance is critical to a cheerleader's success as well as the team's overall success and safety. If a cheerleader misses practice, they may not be allowed to cheer during a competition or stunt in a sideline cheer game, per the Head Coach’s discretion for safety purposes. To ensure that all cheerleaders have a fair chance to compete and perform to the best of their abilities, they must attend all scheduled practices. If a cheerleader must miss practice due to an illness, injury, or emergency, please contact their Head Coach asap.
