NPSC Programs

Select Program

For players in grades 3-8 the Select program is the highest level of soccer NPSC provides. Our select teams will play in a league that is appropriate for the skill level of the team. Typically Select teams will play in the Mid-New Jersey Youth Soccer Association. A Select team could also also play in the Eastern Development Program (EDP) if the team skill level and commitment shows this is appropriate.

Participation on a select team requires participation in our yearly player evaluations. Placement on a select team requires a commitment for both the spring and fall seasons.

Travel Program

For players in grades 3-8 the Travel program is for all players looking to participate in soccer. Travel teams typically play in the Suburban Youth Soccer League.* Participation on a Travel team does not require participation in yearly evaluations (although evaluation participation is encouraged for all players).
Players participating in evaluations who are not placed on a Select team will automatically be placed on a Travel team. Travel team participants can choose to play in the fall, spring or both.

*NPSC will make all attempts to place U12 Travel teams in the Mid-New Jersey Youth Soccer Association. SYSL does not offer U12 flights which pushes these players to play full-field at U13. NPSC believes that players should play on small-sided fields for as long as possible.

*For 8th grade players NPSC may field U15 teams (in place of U14) to accommodate all 8th grade players regardless of birth year.
*If there is enough interest, 2nd graders may be invited to play on a U8 team or join one of our U9 teams.

For both Select and Travel teams our program is the same. All teams receive:
2 Mid-Week training sessions run by a professional trainer in the Fall and 1 in the Spring
1 Weekend training session run by parent coaches
1 Weekend game. Typically on Sunday.
Some coaches may add additional training sessions for their teams.

NPSC Skills Development Program

Kindergarten
Kindergarten SDP is a one hour session run by professional trainers focusing on skills and other fun soccer-related activities.

1st and 2nd Grade
Our sessions are split into 2 different activities. The first 55 minutes are focused on skills with professional trainers and the second portion of the session is dedicated to small sided games where the teams play against each other every week. This is the part where we expect you to cheer for your child's team and to help as we need volunteers for coaching during those games. If you are interest in coaching, please let us know. No license or previous soccer experience is required, and it is really fun.

The SDP program runs Saturday mornings in both the fall and spring. There are 10 sessions to the program.
