The Recreational Soccer program provides youth players an organized and fun-filled soccer experience while learning about the game. Tonka United's Recreational Soccer teams are coached by parent volunteers to help create a positive experience for each team.

FALL RECREATIONAL SOCCER
Players: 3rd Grade - 8th Grade
Registration is open!
The Fall Recreational Soccer league starts in the beginning of September and concludes during the second week of October. This is an in-house league, so all games will be against other Tonka United Recreational Soccer teams. All teams are coached by parents volunteer coaches - you can register as a volunteer while registering your child for the league.The youth soccer players play small-sided games to provide an opportunity to get more touches in the ball. All soccer players should play about the same amount of time in each game and should have the opportunity to play in each position. The Fall Recreational Soccer league is a no score, no standings, no protest league. This rule applies to coaches, parents, players and spectators.

SPRING/SUMMER RECREATIONAL SOCCER
Players: 3rd Grade - 12th Grade
Tonka United's Spring/Summer Recreational Soccer begins in late April and concludes at the end of June. This is an in-house league, so all games will be against other Tonka United Recreational Soccer teams. All teams are coached by parents volunteer coaches - you can register as a volunteer while registering your child for the league. Tonka United will host a mandatory meeting for parent volunteer coaches in early April, a couple weeks before the start of the season.

RULES
The Recreational Soccer program follows a combination of FIFA and USYS rules for United States Youth Soccer with minor modification. The main objective is to ensure safety of our players and maximize enjoyment of the game.
Important Rule Changes
- There is NO PUNTING in any recreational games. If a goal keeper does punt the ball, an indirect free kick will be awarded to the opposing team on the top of the penalty box.
- There is NO HEADING in any recreational games. If a player intentionally heads the ball, an indirect free kick will be awarded to the opposing team at the spot of the header.
- Kickoffs may go in any direction, but the player taking the kickoff is only allowed one touch. The player taking the kickoff may not dribble the ball.
