Little League Canada Baseball Programs

Little League Canada offers baseball programs to youth ages 4 to 16 years old. (Baseball Age Charts 2021 & 2022)

Utilizing the Age Determinator by Little League International is a fast and easy way to ensure your child is signing up for the proper program.

Baseball divisions utilize the age determination date of August 31 of the current year.

Tee Ball Baseball – The tee-ball program gives 4 to 7-year-old children and their parents an introductory experience to baseball by creating a safe, caring, and fun activity as they learn the basic skills of the game. Programs may use 50-foot base paths and a lower RIF (softer) ball.

Minor Baseball Division – This division may be segmented into one or a combination of Coach Pitch, Machine Pitch, and/or Player Pitch. These programs are for players 7-11 years old; however, players 5 and 6 years old with a year of Tee Ball are eligible for the Coach Pitch or the Machine Pitch divisions. Teams use a diamond with a 60-foot base path and a 46-foot pitching distance. Clubs may modify some playing rules to assist in player development and fundamental building. Tournament Play is limited at the Minor level because it is an instructional and developmental division. Normally teams only advance to Provincial Tournaments. ( No Canadian championship or World Series play is available).
  • Coach Pitch is a program for players who bat a baseball that is safely pitched to them by their own coach.
  • Machine Pitch is a program for players who bat a baseball that is pitched to them by a machine.
  • Player Pitch is a program where players bat a baseball that is pitched to them by an opposing team’s player. This is the first level where player participants begin to pitch to one another.
Major Baseball (Little League®) is a Little League program where players are ages 9 to 12. This program is played on a smaller, age-appropriate diamond that measures the Pitcher's Mound 46 feet to Homeplate and 60 feet between base to base running paths. Clubs may begin to implement the uncaught (dropped) third strike and a courtesy runner for the pitcher and/or catcher with two outs. At this level, the full tournament game is available, meaning the winning Canadian Regional Champion team has the option to attend the World Series tournament in Williamsport, PA. In major division and above, age-eligible players may double-register for teams of different age divisions and be eligible for the tournament based on their age. (EX - A 12-year-old can be part of a major and intermediate team (50-70) or a junior division team.)

Intermediate (50/70) Baseball is a program for players aged 11 to 13. Intermediate baseball provides a transition for players and is played on a mid-size diamond that uses a 50-foot pitch distance and 70-foot base paths. The runners can start to go. At this level, the full tournament is available, meaning the winning team of the Canadian Regional Championship has the opportunity to attend the World Series tournament in Livermore, California

Junior Baseball is a Little League program for players ages 12-14. At the Junior level, first-time players will use 90-foot base paths and a 60-foot-6 pitch distance. At this level, the full tournament game is available, meaning the winning Canadian Regional Champion team has the option to attend the World Series tournament in Taylor, Michigan.

Senior Baseball is a Little League program for players ages 13-16. Senior baseball is played using 90-foot base paths and a 60-foot-6 pitching distance. At this level, the full tournament game is available, meaning the winning Canadian Regional Championship team can attend the World Series tournament in Easley, SC.
