GYSA's softball program is divided into different age groups to organize players according to their level of skill development and grasp of concepts of the sport. Younger age groups will serve as an introduction to the sport and introduce the concept of team sports with an emphasis on sportsmanship and teamwork. Middle and older ages will serve as an introduction to competitive sports with an emphasis on participation, sportsmanship, skill development and team concepts.
