If you wish to volunteer with GYSA as a Coach, Assistant Coach, Division Coordinator, etc. you will need to complete a background check with the City of Gulfport, Department of Leisure services to get an ID badge.  This badge must be worn at all times when on the field during the regular season.

For more information, please review city of gulfport_background check info.pdf

If you have a picture on file with the Department of Leisure services, you only need to complete one of the following forms:

gysa baseball background check application.pdf

gysa softball background check application.pdf

Once you complete the form, email it to [email protected]

If you are a new volunteer, you must go the Department of Leisure Services office to complete the form and have a picture taken.  The office is located upstairs in the City of Gulfport Water Department (Jones Building) at 1422 23rd Avenue.

Babe Ruth Baseball also requires Safe Sports Act training for all rostered coaches and assistants.  This is required every two years.  If you took the course and submitted your certification in 2019, you are covered.  If you are a new coach/assistant, you are required to complete the Safe Sports Act training this year.  Once complete, please forward a copy of your certification to [email protected].
The training course is available at Safe Sports Act Abuse Training.
