HOWARD DAVISON PASSES AWAY

FORMER LITTLE LEAGUE ALBERTA PRESIDENT, DISTRICT #2 EDMONTON DISTRICT ADMINISTRATOR HOWARD DAVISON PASSES AWAY SUDDENLY IN EDMONTON

I am writing this Bulletin to pass along some sad news. Many of us in Little League Alberta were saddened to hear that our long time Little League friend and colleague, Howard Davison, passed away just before Christmas. Howard was a passionate individual who challenged everyone to do their best to make things better than before. Although, he drifted on to other chapters and interests in his life, I still fondly recall many of the meetings, events, dinners, and coffee breaks we participated in tirelessly in striving to make the Little League program in Alberta better,

Mr. Davision was the chairperson of the very successful 1989 Canadian Little League Championship in Edmonton. The success of that event rose him to prominence on the Provincial scene and was soon called upon to take on a leadership role with Little League Alberta as President as well as District Administrator for Alberta District #2. He remained with the organization for many years and saw it grow into the organization that it is today. Howard left the program for time but was always available for consultation or just taking time to have a visit and recalling some of the great personalities and experiences that were gained through the years supporting Little League. I would also be remiss to not also acknowledge the family aspect of Howard’s involvement as his loving wife, Sue, was also a dedicated and passionate supporter of Little League and, of course, Howard.

I can still see Howard and his absolutely perplexed look at some of the comments that some people made in his presence over the years. I know he enjoyed acting but I really do not think the expressions I am talking about involved acting. It was Howard being his enthusiastic, yet sincere realistic self quietly calling out some of the craziness and lack of common sense that goes with the territory of kids sport, Common sense was something that Howard had an abundance of which was a blessing to everything he was involved with.

On behalf of all of Howard’s Little League friends, I would like to express my sincerest condolences to Sue and their children, Richard and Kirsty as well as his many other friends and family. I, as I know others in the program will as well, take many fond memories away from my friendship with Howard, a person with a larger than life personality

Howard Davison’s Celebration of Life service will be on Saturday January 7 at 10 am at Crosspoint Church in Edmonton.
