What a great weekend of Soccer at the Baker Blast. Families enjoyed fabulous weather and the boys played 5 great games of soccer to be the 2013 champions.  The championship game was both a mental and physical game! By playing as a team and remaining in good spirits the boys were able to pull off the win in overtime.  All 5 games were truly a team effort with the boys working on a quick ground game with great passes and finishing.

WSA Rapids GU12 Navy - Skagit Firecracker Finalists

"One of the newest additions to our Rangers club are our Development Team, during the summer season more commonly known as "Rapids".  We had a great showing from our up and coming athletes.  Included in that group was the Girls U12 Navy team.  They found great success this weekend at the Firecracker Tournament playing 11 a side for the first time and the first time playing in a game after just four training sessions.  They won their first game convincingly against an experience U12 Northwest United Team 3-1, had a tough match against their own U12 Gold team holding them to just two goals to one at the half but falling 7-1 for the match.  With time and experience they are looking for a re-match.  Sunday morning they came to the fields ready to go winning 4-0 over Velocity which propelled them into a very well matched Final game against a fresh NWSC Islanders team.  The final score was 1-2 putting the young Rapids team in second for the tournament.  A great showing for a promising team who looks forward to working toward similar results in the upcoming Baker Blast Tournament."

WFC Rangers BU12 Gold - Skagit Firecracker Champions

The first tournament for the BU-12 Ranger Gold team was a success. We were able to win the Firecracker with an undefeated record. Not only did we win every game, but the boys put the ball in the back of the net 18 times in four games while not conceding a single goal! Most importantly, however, the boys played well as a team and were able to improve throughout the tournament.

Our biggest challenge was presented to us in the final—as it should be! The same NW United team we played earlier that morning came back motivated to beat us after our 7-0 win. The final was a competitive match with both teams battling hard. A couple of nice goals and some fine goalkeeping was enough for our boys to call themselves Firecracker champions.

All around, this was a successful first weekend full of team-building, competition, and improvement. I’m looking forward to lots more soccer with this special group of players.
