When does the season start and how long does it run?
Season Kick-Off is scheduled for August 2, 2014. Our season runs from mid-July through early-mid November.  We do not schedule games over Labor Day weekend or during October break.
Â
When will I hear from my child's coach?
You can expect to be contacted approximately the second week in July by your child’s coach.
Â
Can I request a coach? Can my child play on the same team as his friend?     Â
Due to the large number of players participating in the various programs, specific requests to play with a friend or for a coach cannot be honored. If you really want your child to play on the same team with their friend, you and your child's friend's parent should sign up to head coach and assistant coach the same team. Parents will need to volunteer to coach prior to June 1. This will guarantee placement of the two players on the same team. However, each team is limited to one head coach and one assistant coach. Â Please be understanding if you make a request that is not honored. Â Every year, about 75% of the registrations come with a request for a team or for a coach, or to be with a player. Â It is impossible to meet all those expectations. Â As much as you want to keep your old team together, there are just as many people who think that teams should be randomly mixed every year.
Â
When and where are practices and games?
Each coach chooses when, where and how long practices will run. Typically, practices are twice a week in the evening. Games are mostly on Saturdays with a few weeknight games throughout the season. Field location for each age group is tbd.
Â
How are teams formed?
Teams are formed based on the geographical location of the players. Every effort is made to keep players and coaches in the same area. However, depending on the amount of coaching volunteers we receive and their location, some players could find that they do not live in the same area as their coach. The only guarantee is if the parent signs up to coach.
Â
What if I want to coach my child’s team?
Our organization depends on volunteer parent coaches to support league play. New coaches are not required to have sport–specific knowledge and can attend a variety of coach education sessions prior to the beginning of the season. Please, stop by our Coaches' Table at Walk-In registration for more information and application.
Â
What is the youngest/oldest a child can play?
A player must be at least 4 and cannot turn 19 before July 31st.
Â
Can my child play up?
Impact encourages all players to stay within their age group. Special considerations must have approval and can only be one year up.  Occastionally the number of registrations in a given age require that the Club merge several age groups, such as last year when the Boys played U14-U15-U16 all together. Â
Â
Why does my U16-U19 player have to travel?
Depending upon the number of teams that we have registered in this age bracket, teams may travel within the Contra Costa/Alameda County area playing in cities such as Walnut Creek, Lafayette, Concord, Hayward, Oakland and surrounding areas. Refunds cannot be given if teams have to travel out of the area.  This is not due to any problem of Impact Soccer Club but is the result of natural dropping out of high school players with other priorities taking precedent over soccer.  All Clubs have trouble creating recreational league brackets at U14 and up; that is why we all band together under CYSA to play league.
Â
Where do my registration fees go?
Impact is a non-profit organization and all registration fees collected go directly back to the player and the operations of the club. Fees cover many expenses such as uniforms, insurance, field rental, equipment, refs, training, and more.
Â
What do I need to provide for my child to play?
All players will need cleats, shin guards and plenty of water. The league will provide shirts, shorts and socks for all players.
