12U Assistant Coach - Ben Richie
A proud Louisiana native, Coach Ben brings more than 38 years of baseball experience—both on the field and in the dugout—to every practice and game. His baseball journey began in T-ball and has grown into a lifelong passion for the sport and its players.
Coach Ben’s coaching roots trace back to his time as a sports manager at Northwood High School in Blanchard, Louisiana. Today, he continues to share that same enthusiasm and dedication as he mentors young athletes at the local middle school in Strasburg, Colorado.
Recruited to play for the Northwestern State Demons, Coach Ben’s path took a patriotic turn when he joined the United States Air Force, proudly serving from 2001 to 2021. Throughout his two decades of service, he played and coached for multiple base travel teams—developing a leadership philosophy centered on teamwork, discipline, and the warrior ethos.
On the field, Coach Ben emphasizes fundamentals, camaraderie, and a competitive spirit, integrating the structure and resilience shaped by his military career. His mission is to help players grow not only as athletes but as confident, respectful young men and women.
Off the diamond, Coach Ben enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending quality time outdoors with his wife, Crystal, and their five boys. Married for over 15 years, he continues to balance his love for family with his commitment to coaching and developing the next generation of athletes.
