πŸ† CFA Competitive Division – Guidelines & Instructions πŸ†

πŸ“’ Overview of the Competitive Division

The Competitive Division is designed for experienced coaches and players seeking a higher level of competition.

  • 🏈 Players must have a solid understanding of football fundamentals and compete with the intent to win.
  • πŸ‘¨β€πŸ« Head coaches and their staff build their own teams.
  • 🚫 No parent or player requests for specific coaches or friends will be considered.
  • πŸ”₯ Tryouts are structured similarly to travel team tryouts.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ« Coach Requirements

All Competitive Division head coaches must submit the following:
βœ… Name
βœ… Coaching bio, including experience and coaching philosophy
βœ… Photo πŸ“Έ
βœ… Coaching staff names (maximum of three assistants)
βœ… Preliminary or final roster (if applicable)
βœ… If participating in the draft, indicate the number of open roster spots

πŸ“© Submit rosters via email to:
πŸ“§ [email protected]

🚨 Important: Any player participating in tryouts may not be recruited or approached by another coach outside of the official draft process. Violations will result in player disqualification from league play.

πŸ“‹ Building a Team & Team Roster Submission

πŸ“… Deadline: February 28, 2025

1️⃣ Full Roster Submission

  • A minimum of seven (7) players must be submitted.
  • No draft participation is required.
  • 🚫 Players already on a submitted roster are not eligible for tryouts.

2️⃣ Partial Roster Submission & Draft Participation

  • If a coach does not have a full team, they can enter the draft to select additional players.
  • The number of open roster spots must be reported to the league before tryouts.
  • Coaches are responsible for ensuring all preliminary roster players are registered before final team assignments.

🏈 The Draft & Tryout Process

πŸ“Œ For Coaches

  • 🏈 Coaches participating in the draft must submit their open roster spots before tryouts.
    • Example: If a coach has 4 players and wants a 9-player team, they must indicate 5 open spots.
  • πŸ”’ The recommended maximum roster is 10 players. The absolute maximum is 12 players.
  • πŸ‘₯ Coaches must register as a volunteer coach and request draft participation if they need additional players.

πŸ“Œ For Players

  • πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Players without a committed team must attend tryouts to be eligible for draft selection.
  • 🚫 No guaranteed spots – teams draft players based on their evaluations.
  • πŸ“© Players selected in the draft will be contacted by the league, which will provide the coach’s contact information.
  • ☎️ It is the coach’s responsibility to reach out to their drafted players.

πŸ”„ Tryout Format & Draft Selection

1️⃣ Players check in 15 minutes before tryouts and receive an assigned number taped to their chest and back.
2️⃣ πŸ“Έ A photo will be taken for tracking.
3️⃣ πŸ”„ Players will rotate through football skill stations.
4️⃣ 🏈 Head coaches and assistants evaluate players based on performance.
5️⃣ πŸ“‹ After tryouts, the draft will be conducted in person at a TBD date, time, and location.

πŸ”’ How the Draft Works

  • βœ… Teams with fewer than 10 players will draft first.
  • πŸ” Once all teams have at least 10 players, teams needing extra players (up to 12 total) may select from the remaining available players.
  • ❗ Any player not drafted into the Competitive Division will be placed on a Recreational team, provided a spot is available.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦ Information for Parents

πŸ€” Is Your Player Ready for the Competitive Division?

4️⃣ If Not Selected for Competitive Division –

πŸ† Games: Sunday games only.
⏳ No Sunday practices on game day unless specifically requested by the coach.

πŸ”„ Returning Coaches – Is Your Team Competitive?

A team qualifies as competitive if:
βœ… The head coach is submitting a roster of at least 6-7 experienced players.
βœ… The team has competed in playoffs and Championships multiple times in past seasons.

🏈 NFL Flag Partnership

CFA has partnered with NFL Flag, providing:
⭐ Regional & national competition opportunities.
⭐ Official NFL team names, uniforms, and flags must be used.

πŸ”” Final Notes for Parents & Coaches

πŸ“’ The Competitive Division is not recreational and is designed for higher-level athletes looking to improve and compete.
🏈 The draft process ensures fairness and team balance.
