π’ Overview of the Competitive Division
The Competitive Division is designed for experienced coaches and players seeking a higher level of competition.
- π Players must have a solid understanding of football fundamentals and compete with the intent to win.
- π¨βπ« Head coaches and their staff build their own teams.
- π« No parent or player requests for specific coaches or friends will be considered.
- π₯ Tryouts are structured similarly to travel team tryouts.
π¨βπ« Coach Requirements
All Competitive Division head coaches must submit the following:

Coaching bio, including experience and coaching philosophy

Preliminary or final roster (if applicable)

π¨ Important: Any player participating in tryouts may not be recruited or approached by another coach outside of the official draft process. Violations will result in player disqualification from league play.
π Building a Team & Team Roster Submission

Deadline: February 28, 2025
1οΈβ£ Full Roster Submission
- A minimum of seven (7) players must be submitted.
- No draft participation is required.
- π« Players already on a submitted roster are not eligible for tryouts.
2οΈβ£ Partial Roster Submission & Draft Participation
- If a coach does not have a full team, they can enter the draft to select additional players.
- The number of open roster spots must be reported to the league before tryouts.
- Coaches are responsible for ensuring all preliminary roster players are registered before final team assignments.

π The Draft & Tryout Process
π For Coaches
- π Coaches participating in the draft must submit their open roster spots before tryouts.
- Example: If a coach has 4 players and wants a 9-player team, they must indicate 5 open spots.
- π’ The recommended maximum roster is 10 players. The absolute maximum is 12 players.
- π₯ Coaches must register as a volunteer coach and request draft participation if they need additional players.
π For Players
- πββοΈ Players without a committed team must attend tryouts to be eligible for draft selection.
- π« No guaranteed spots β teams draft players based on their evaluations.
- π© Players selected in the draft will be contacted by the league, which will provide the coachβs contact information.
- βοΈ It is the coachβs responsibility to reach out to their drafted players.
π Tryout Format & Draft Selection
1οΈβ£ Players check in 15 minutes before tryouts and receive an assigned number taped to their chest and back.
2οΈβ£ πΈ A photo will be taken for tracking.
3οΈβ£ π Players will rotate through football skill stations.
4οΈβ£ π Head coaches and assistants evaluate players based on performance.
5οΈβ£ π After tryouts, the draft will be conducted in person at a TBD date, time, and location.
π’ How the Draft Works

Teams with fewer than 10 players will draft first.
- π Once all teams have at least 10 players, teams needing extra players (up to 12 total) may select from the remaining available players.
- β Any player not drafted into the Competitive Division will be placed on a Recreational team, provided a spot is available.

Must have prior football experience (flag, 7v7, or tackle).

Must understand the game rules and be committed to attending practices.

π What Happens if My Child Tries Out?
1οΈβ£ Tryout Attendance is Required β Players must be present at tryouts to be drafted.
2οΈβ£ No Guaranteed Placement β Selection depends on team needs and coach evaluations.
3οΈβ£ If Selected, Parents Will Be Notified β

- βοΈ Coaches will contact players directly about practices and expectations.
4οΈβ£ If Not Selected for Competitive Division β - π The player will be assigned to a Recreational team, provided there are available spots.
π Commitment Expectations
ποΈββοΈ Practices: Coaches set their own practice schedules (days, times, and locations).
π Games: Sunday games only.
β³ No Sunday practices on game day unless specifically requested by the coach.
π Returning Coaches β Is Your Team Competitive?
A team qualifies as competitive if:

The head coach is submitting a roster of at least 6-7 experienced players.
β
The team has competed in playoffs and Championships multiple times in past seasons.

CFA has partnered with NFL Flag, providing:
β Regional & national competition opportunities.
β Official NFL team names, uniforms, and flags must be used.

π’ The Competitive Division is not recreational and is designed for higher-level athletes looking to improve and compete.
π The draft process ensures fairness and team balance.
π If a player is not selected, they will have the opportunity to play in the Recreational Division, which still includes skill development, playoffs, and championships.
