Gilbert American has a strong All Star tradition that we are proud of!
Every spring Gilbert American forms All Star teams to compete in the Little League International Tournament. There are three (3) age divisions which compete. Each age division first competes against other local leagues in our district (District 14). The winner of District 14 goes on to represent the district at the Arizona State Tournament. For the 10U and 11U divisions, the highest possible tournament is the state tournament. For the 12U team, the state winner advances to the Western Region Tournament. The winner of the Western Region advances to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. For Juniors, the World Series is in Taylor, MI.

How does my player make the all star team?Towards the end of the Spring Season, coaches nominate players whom they feel will be best to represent Gilbert American in the All Star Tournament. To help in the nomination process coaches are to nominate not only players from their own teams, but all the teams in their division. The players are invited to a tryout and the All Star coaches will select the final group for the team.
Per official Little League Rules tryouts and naming teams cannot occur before May 15th. In addition, tryouts and naming teams cannot occur before the league has played the required amount of regular season games that are require for eligibility.
The district tournaments begin various weeks in June depending on the age group (see All Star Key Dates for more info). Traditionally the 11Us tournament is first, followed by the 10Us and the 12Us. The state tournaments start at various times in July and are hosted all over the state. Players are expected to commit to multiple practices during the week.
Practices range from 4-6 days a week for 2-3 hrs each practice. These will be determined by each set of coaching staff.
If you are interested in participating on the All Star Team you should expect to plan vacations accordingly. Making the All Star team is a big commitment and honor.
How do I coach the All Star Team?Towards the end of the Spring Season the board of directors will contact all the managers and assistant coaches in the league requesting applications for the All Star manager position. Any current coach is eligible to submit an application. After reviewing each application, the Board of Directors will vote on the manager for each division.
