General Overview of FSA Soccer
Fairfield Soccer is a recreational soccer league built to develop young soccer athletes.
We are a volunteer organization supported by the Fairfield Soccer Committee and we offer soccer for boys and girls ages 4-12 (depending on number of people signup for the age brackets).
Currently we only offer Soccer during the fall season running from August through November.
- All head coaches must complete a background check.
- Player Assessments will be held for ages 7-12.
- Practices are starting in the first week of August.
- Games will be mostly played on Saturday mornings, however games can be scheduled Saturday afternoon and on weekdays in the evenings. For the year end tournament, we will schedule games on weekdays and weekends.
For ages 7 and up the season will be 8 games and a tournament will follow directly after the league schedule is completed. The start of the tournament will around end of October beginning of November, depending on how many rainout weekends we encounter. The 4-6 yr. old leagues are scheduled for 10 games weather permitting.
FSA Soccer introduces our 4 and 5-year-old players to the game through small-sided soccer. This means there are six or seven players on a team and the games are 3 v 3 on small fields. The focus is on developing individual technical skills, learning the basic rules of the game in an environment where the children will have many opportunities to touch the ball, and having FUN! As the kids get older, we gradually increase the number of players and the size of the field. There are no try-outs for ages 4-6, kids are just assigned to a team.
Starting at age 7, players are required to participate in a skills assessment before the season begins. The older division leagues are competitive where standings are kept and divisional championships are awarded for the number 1 and 2 teams of each division. There is also a season ending divisional tournament following the league play. All teams will participate in the tournament.
Weather permitting all teams will play a minimum of 10 games. Ages 7-12 will play 8 league games followed by a tournament. All coaches must complete a background check.
