Highschool and Middle School Winter Season 2024 - 2025

Season Overview

CBRC invites both high school and middle school rowers to join us for winter training. Both programs will consist of a variety of indoor work including: rowing machines, weights, yoga, mobility, circuit exercises, and various cross-training. Athletes new to the sport (novices) are welcome to participate in our Winter Training season alongside our returning athletes. 


Costs
The participation fee for High School Winter Training is $425.
The participation fee for Middle School Winter Training is $225.

Entry to NW Ergomania Indoor Rowing Championships, (see below) is not included in the Winter fee.



Practice Calendar


All practices will be held at the CBRC boathouse at Harry Todd Park in Lakewood, WA. 
• Start: Monday, November 11, 2024
• End: Thursday, January 30, 2025
• Days:  High School: Monday through Thursday
     Middle School: Monday and Wednesday

• Time: 3:45 - 5:30 PM

Dates on which there will be an exception or NO practice:

Thursday November 28, 2024 Thanksgiving Day
Wednesday December 25, 2024 Christmas Day
Wednesday January 1, 2025 New Years Day
Thursday January 20, 2025 Martin Luther King Day


Additional holiday related non-practices days will be announced by the coaching staff and will be dependent coaching availability and on how many athletes are available to attend practices.


Winter Competition Schedule

NW Ergomania - Indoor Rowing Championships hosted by Tacoma Rowing. More information and registration can be found at the Regatta Central website when it is made available in mid-November 2024.

NW Ergomania is held on February 1, 2025 at the University of Washington, Tacoma YMCA, Tacoma, WA.

Parents and athletes who want to volunteer to assist NW Ergomania, can sign up when the event is updated on Regatta Central. Check back later for more information.





Requirements
Each rower is required to register online before participating in a rowing season. Athletes will also need to have an active USRowing Championship Membership to complete registration with CBRC.

Registration and Payment

General Participation Requirements

Each rower is required to register online before participating in each rowing season. Athletes must also hold a current USRowing membership, have their member number available, and sign a USRowing online waiver.


US Rowing Membership:

For information on how to obtain a US Rowing member number please use the information found here.

A USRowing membership is required for participation in rowing at CBRC.

  • Basic plus Regatta membership costs $25.00 ($20 to renew) and is required to participate in US Rowing sanctioned regattas
  • US Rowing memberships are good for one year from the date of purchase


Parent Volunteer Commitment:

Volunteering is essential to the success of all of our programs at CBRC.

  • Parents are expected to help with at least one CBRC event or committee, for example: Rock & Row auction, planning for winter fundraisers and volunteering for booking and travel arrangement for Spring Season
  • The minimum expected contribution is 3 or more hours per season

Winter Training Costs and Fees for High School is $425; for Middle School it is $225.

The fees include the following operating costs: Practice costs: coaches' pay, payroll taxes, launch gas, repair costs, registration fees, insurance, etc.

The above fees do not include the US Rowing Membership.

Optional $50 or $100 donation for equipment replacement or program support

Winter Registration:

Registration is required for all athletes participating in rowing at CBRC.

  • Registration is now open
  • You are encouraged to complete your registration by November 18, 2024, although later registrations will be accepted. It is important to note that the program requires a minimum 10 participants 
  • Choose "Pay by Check" option to make payment arrangements or pay the total by check


At CBRC we are deeply committed to providing a rowing experience to all youth. Scholarship applications are confidentially accepted and welcomed on a need basis.
