We Need You
The success of our program depends on our volunteers. Please consider signing up to coach a sideline team or competition team.
Coaches do not need to have cheer experience. You will be given the tools you need during our cheer camp and choreography instruction.
Time Commitment - Cheer Kickoff, Cheer Camp and Pictures in August. Practices and games begin Saturdays when school starts. 8- 10 games total.
Football Association releases tentative time/ location schedule 3rd week of August. GAMES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE - sometimes on short notice. Saturdays are for football.
MTLYCA Coaching Guidelines
❖ Coaches shall be selected each year by the Board of Directors. All coaches must be a member in good standing with approved clearances and completed training courses.
❖ A head coach and an assistant coach will be selected for each team. A shirt will be provided for each to be worn at practices, games, and events.
❖ Coaches will:
➢ Run all practices and games for the squad.
➢ Keep accurate records at all scheduled practices and games. (attendance for example)
➢ Practices will be in a public location. No practices shall be held in a private home.
➢ Learn all new cheers and half-time routines at summer cheer camp.
➢ Attend all camps, practices, games and events.
➢ Coaches represent MTLYCA both on and off the field. They are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner at all times especially when in the presence of their squad.
➢ Coaches will be dismissed by the Board of Directors if a coach displays behavior unacceptable and unprofessional, as determined by the MTLYCA Coaching Guidelines and by a majority vote of the Board of Directors.
➢ Are not to leave practices or games until all cheerleaders have been picked up by parent/guardian.
➢ Have a First Aid kit with them at all practices, games and events. These will be provided by the MTLYCA.
➢ Each squad will have a minimum of 2 coaches. Any additional coaches or volunteers need to be verified.
❖ Coaches and assistant coaches must provide the following three (3) clearances to the secretary of the MTLYCA prior to the first day of camp:
➢ CRIMINAL HISTORY RECORD CHECK (Act 34)
➢ PENNSYLVANIA CHILD ABUSE HISTORY CLEARANCE FORM (Act 151)
➢ FBI FINGERPRINTING FEDERAL CRIMINAL HISTORY (Act 114) or RESIDENT OF PENNSYLVANIA AFFIDAVIT
