Recreational Soccer Program
Mission
Toms River FC offers something for every player. The mission of TRFC is to provide our member families and children with a place where they can develop the skill and knowledge to play, as well as respect and enjoy, the world's game of soccer in a safe, fun and challenging environment.
Recreational Soccer Program:
This program is tailored specifically for children in the U7 and U8 age groups and serves to enhance the skills taught in the Clinic program, while introducing these children to the concept of competition.
It also provides a place to play and learn for the older child, in the U9 through U12 age groups, whose skills, experience, or level of interest/willingness to commit might not be sufficiently strong to allow them to succeed in the travel team program.
Toms River FC is a community based, all-volunteer program. In order to keep TRFC soccer thriving, it is important that we have parents and community members volunteer their time to help provide children an affordable place to develop soccer skills within their own community.
Often times we are faced with the problem of having more children register than we have teams with coaches. If we wish to continue and grow this organization, we MUST have volunteers. PLEASE consider volunteering your time to be a coach, assistant coach or co-coach (with another parent or two)

We are completely committed to providing our community with a model of quality youth development, education, and inspiration through the sport of soccer.
As a parent, you already know it takes all of us working together to help our children reach their full potential. We encourage all of our parents to get involved and volunteer to help the Toms River FC and their teams.
Recreational Parent Volunteer Coaches - NJ Surf will lead one 60 minute trainer run session per week in season. Parent volunteer coaches can also lead one 60 - 90 minute practice per week and coach games on Saturdays. No prior soccer experience is necessary in order to serve as your team’s coach; We offer support to our coaches and respond quickly whenever you need support, guidance, or coaching tips.
As a volunteer coach, you will receive:
Free coach's gear and equipment to use during the season;
Ongoing support from our other coaches;
The Recreational program has a 10-week league season in Fall and 10-week league season in spring, and games are played on Saturdays between 8am and 4pm. Depending on who the home team is, Recreational games can be held anywhere in Ocean County.
2023/2024 Recreational Soccer will include
10 (1 hour) paid trainer run practices in the Fall 2023
10 (1 hour) paid trainer run practices in the Spring 2024
Due to the number of teams, players, training hours & locations,
the paid trainer run sessions are determined by TRFC.
Coach run practices, times and days are determined by the coach of the individual team.
Recreational teams typically practice once or twice weekly.
2023/2024 Registration Closes August 7, 2023 at 5:00 PM
Cost for Recreation soccer is $349.00 and includes both Fall and Spring seasons.

Numbers do not matter in recreational soccer
Players can pick out their favorite number
Each player will need the following
for the 23/24 Season.
Blue Shirt
White Shirt
Blue Shorts
Blue Socks.
Please note: Recreational Uniforms are different from Travel Uniforms.
The kids will need the following equipment for practices
Soccer Cleats -- Please make sure they are soccer,
as the ref's will not allow cleats for other sports.
Shin Guards
Water
Soccer Ball - Size 3 for U7 and U8 Kids
Size 4 for U9 and U12
Size 5 for U13 and Up
U7 to U12 Recreational teams play in the Ocean County Recreational League.
