Becoming a Toms River FC Travel Coach

Coaching Opportunities & Requirements

Assigned to a team that plays in a regional US Youth Soccer league. Players are 7 to 19 years old. Requires certified coaching education, and ideally a multi-year commitment to develop the potential of a select group of players. Practices are minimally twice per week and a game each weekend in the fall and spring. Additional training for the team is provided weekly by a Red Bulls Trainer whose lesson plans you can adapt throughout the season.

Steps to Become a Travel League Coach

  • Personal Interview: Anyone interested in coaching a Toms River FC competitive team must contact President of TRFC for a discussion of soccer/coaching experience and the Toms River FC training philosophy.
  • Coaching License: New Jersey Youth Soccer (NJYS) requires each coach and assistant coach to pass a USSF coaching course, and have a valid State Certificate Course (Formerly the NJYS F Certificate) or higher license. State Certificate Course must be issued in New Jersey. Advanced levels are strongly encouraged for tenured coaches on staff. Courses are offered on a regular basis in many different locations across the state. Toms River FC  will reimburse each coach the course registration fee in full upon successful completion. A license is good for life, so be sure to store your certificate in a safe place.
