Pennsylvania volunteers working with children must obtain three clearances online: the PA Child Abuse History Certification, PA State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), and FBI Federal Criminal History Record. Child Abuse and PATCH are free for volunteers, while the FBI check requires a fee and fingerprinting. Clearances must be renewed every 60 months.

• Validity: All clearances are valid for 60 months (5 years).
• Cost: The PA child abuse and state police check are free for volunteers (once every 57 months).
• Ensure you select the "Volunteer" option when prompted to avoid unnecessary fees.

Required Online Clearance Processes:

1. PA Child Abuse History Certification (Free):
• Apply online through the Child Welfare Information Solution (CWIS) self-service portal.
• You will receive results via email, usually within a few days.
2. PA State Police Criminal History Check (Free):
• Submit through the Pennsylvania Access To Criminal History (PATCH) website.
• Results are typically available almost immediately.
3. FBI Federal Criminal History Check (Fee Required):
• Register online at IdentoGO.
• Use Service Code 1KG6ZJ for PA volunteers.
• Schedule an appointment to get fingerprints taken at a local IdentoGO center.
