Ledyard Soccer Club is a recreational and competitive soccer organization for kids ages 4 through 14. LSC is a participant in the Southeast Connecticut Soccer Organization http://www.secjsa.org/default.asp and the larger Connecticut Junior Soccer Organization http://www.cjsalive.org/home.php.
U5-U8 Program
The Ledyard Soccer Club offers an in-house Recreation League for the younger age groups. These groups include small teams that focus on having fun while learning the basic fundamentals of soccer. Our games and practices are all held here in Ledyard and typically take place on Saturday Mornings. Parent volunteer coaches are needed to support the coach during these sessions.
- 2 Sessions each year. Fall & Spring
- U5-U6: one session a week on Saturday mornings that involve both skill building and small-sided games.
- U7-U8: one or two sessions per week, one weekday practice and one skills session or game.
- Uniform jersey is provided. For bottoms, any of your players gym-type shorts (or pants for colder weather) will be fine to wear. They need shin guards. Cleats and socks are good to have as well as a refillable water bottle and soccer ball.
U9-U14 Program
The Ledyard Soccer Club participates in the Southeast Connecticut Junior Soccer Association with other towns located in Southeastern Connecticut. The league offers three different divisions - Bronze, Silver, and Gold.
• Girls and boys teams. Single year (U9, U10, U11, etc.) or double year (U10, U12, U14) age groups depending on the amount of players, and determined by the age group coordinators and coaches.
• Practice- 2 sessions during the week. 1-1.5 hours each.
• Games: 1 or 2 a week, typically on the weekends, played here in Ledyard or in other Southeastern CT towns.
• Tournaments: Optional, as determined by the Coaches.
CLASSIC
We also offer our older players the opportunity to try out for a spot on one of our classic teams that compete in the SECJSA's Silver or Gold Divisions. These Teams offer players who wish to focus on advancing their skills in a more competitive setting, a chance to play at higher level within Southeast Connecticut. Players must attend our evaluation sessions to be considered for placement on a classic team.
New uniform is not included in registration. Uniforms must be purchased separately, and we update the uniform every three years.
The Mission of the Ledyard Soccer Club (LSC) is to provide opportunities for Ledyard residents, particularly youth, to learn about, participate in and enjoy soccer in a safe, positive, inclusive environment in order to improve soccer skills, develop soccer interests and build character.
In order to achieve this mission, the LSC is committed to the following:
- Our primary focus is to provide opportunities for children to play recreational soccer.
- All children who want to play will play, provided they register on time and sufficient coaches are available.
- Every effort will be made to create equally balanced teams in the recreation leagues.
- For LSC leagues, no standings will be kept or team trophies given for finishing a season with a better record than another team.
- Opportunities to play more competitive soccer will be made available to players who demonstrate the necessary interest and skills.
- Family participation at all levels of the Club is highly encouraged.
- All participating coaches, players and spectators are required to abide by the LSC Code of Ethics.
