The Ledyard Soccer Club is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.  LSC runs on our volunteers across the organization. You do not need any previous experience, and we welcome any and all efforts to help us fill our volunteer roles. It's a rewarding way to get involved with our kids, our community and other parents!

You will be required to complete SafeSport as well as a background check to fulfill a volunteer role. We look forward to you joining our team!

General Steps

Steps to Register as a Coach or Volunteer

Before you start, patience is needed as requirements get updated but the various computer systems are not linked.

General Process

  1. Register with the club website
  2. Start a background check
  3. Complete SafeSport Training
  4. Complete Concussion Awareness Training
  5. Upload the information to the club website

Step 1: Login & Register

Step 1: Create a Club Account & Register
  1. Login to your existing account with the club if you have one
    1.  If a family member has an account at your address, have them
      1. Log in
      2. Add you to the account. This is required in order to process the background check.
    2. If nobody at your address has an account, then create an account by
      1. Clicking Login | Register at the top of the screen
      2. Fill in required information to create a new account
  2. You can sign up to volunteer once registration opens up. 
    1. You can sign up during the Registration of you Players or
    2. Clicking the Volunteer section on the left-hand side.
    3. If you or someone on the account is already registered to volunteer, you'll need click + Find Volunteer Roles at the bottom of the page.
  3. Select the Program and Role you want to volunteer for. If you have players registered it will tell you where they are registered. You can scroll to the bottom and click Show All Available Opportunities to see ones your child is not registered for. 
  4. When selecting a role, you'll need to select the user who is volunteer too. Click Continue.
  5. Complete the registration. Required fields will be indicated with a *
  6. Click Continue.
  7. The next screen will show you your certifications for the club. It will indicate any expiration dates, statuses, and compliance. 
  8. From here you may check the box next to the Certification you need to update and click Renew & Update in the bottom right. 


Step 2: Background Check

Step 2: Background Check
  1. Login to the club's website.
  2. Select Volunteer on the left-hand side.
  3. Check the box next to the Risk Status Certification and click Renew & Update.
  4. Provide certification details and click Submit. It will confirm that you want to do a background check. 

NOTE: Connecticut Junior Soccer Association has partnered with the background check company JD Palatine to run Risk Management. In order to process your background check, your Social Security must be provided. 

Background checks are good for 1 calendar year and must be redone if they expire during the season

Step 3: Safe Sport Training

Step 3: Complete SafeSport Training

  1. Login to the club's website. If you have not completed SafeSport Training for the club, do not go directly to their website.
  2. Select Volunteer on the left-hand side.
  3. Check the box next to the SafeSport Certification and click Renew & Update.
  4. You will get a pop up to click a link or copy and paste a link into your browser.
  5. Login or Signup at SafeSport.
  6. This will sign you up with an enrollment key. It will give you the correct course and pay for the course. 
  7. Complete the SafeSport training.
  8. Upon completion down the certificate. 

Step 4: Concussion Training

Step 4: Complete Concussion Awareness Training

  1. Go to the CDC's website for HEADS UP to Youth Sports. https://www.cdc.gov/heads-up/training/youth-sports.html
  2. Click the link on the CDC's website to Take the Training
  3. Login or Create an Account.
  4. Select CDC Heads Up training for group and select non-profit.
  5.  Go to your profile and add information. You will not be able to register for the course without that information. (phone, contact, organization (Ledyard Youth Soccer – for title put volunteer)
  6. Enter “Heads Up to Youth Sports” in the search menu for courses.  As of Aug 2024, there are 5 different Heads Up to Youth Sports courses.  Several are out of date. Select HEADS UP to Youth Sports: Online Training for Coaches (https://www.train.org/connecticut/course/1089818/details)
  7. When done, download a pdf of your certificate.

  1. Login to the club's website.
  2. Select Volunteer on the left-hand side.
  3. Check the box/es next to the Certification/s and click Renew & Update
  4. Select the person to upload certificates
  5. Follow the screen prompts to upload your certificates
  6. Congratulations - you've finished the process.
