The Virginia Hurricanes U13-14 Girls Flag Football Team won the 2020 NFL Flag Football National Championship, on Saturday, January 25, 2020, held in conjunction with the NFL Pro Bowl in Orlando, FL. A Cinderella story, the team lost their games in pool play by the narrowest of margins and rose to victory in tournament elimination play. After defeating the top-seeded Texas Fury (13-7) in the quarterfinals, the Hurricanes went on to defeat the 2019 defending-champion Arizona Turf (7-6) in the semifinals. In the Championship game, televised on the ESPN network, the Hurricanes defeated the Staten Island Giants by a score of 14-7.

The Virginia Hurricanes Flag Football team qualified for the National Championships by winning the Washington Redskins Regional tournament at RFK Campus Park in DC in November 2019. Head Coach Mike Rivera has led Arlington-based teams to two NFL Flag National Championship titles and six NFL Flag Regional Championship titles for the previous, consecutive six years.
