Flag Football Champions

The Virginia Hurricanes U13-14 Girls Flag Football Team won the 2020 NFL Flag Football National Championship, on Saturday, January 25, 2020, held in conjunction with the NFL Pro Bowl in Orlando, FL.  A Cinderella story, the team lost their games in pool play by the narrowest of margins and rose to victory in tournament elimination play.  After defeating the top-seeded Texas Fury (13-7) in the quarterfinals, the Hurricanes went on to defeat the 2019 defending-champion Arizona Turf (7-6) in the semifinals.  In the Championship game, televised on the ESPN network, the Hurricanes defeated the Staten Island Giants by a score of 14-7.

Championship Team Members include:

Phoebe Carver (Bishop O’Connell High School)

Lara Cleetus (St. Thomas More Cathedral School)

Jaidyn Harper (St. John’s College High School)

Kate Leland (Williamsburg Middle School)

Juliana Lomas (Washington-Liberty High School)
