Burgettstown Area Youth Soccer Association is a non-profit organization that provides recreational and competitive soccer for children ages 4 - 18 for both girls and boys. Our year consists of two separate seasons, both spring and fall. Typically our program draws players from Avella, Bulger, Burgettstown, Eldersville, Florence, Hanover, Hickory, McDonald, and Midway, PA, Weirton, WV, Steubenville, OH, and many other surrounding communities. Our players come mainly from the three local school districts - Avella, Burgettstown, and Fort Cherry, but we accept players from anywhere and have many players who travel long distances to play for BAYSA.
BAYSA has been in existence in our community for more than 30 years. BAYSA's mission is to teach the game of soccer, emphasizing sportsmanship and team play in a fun and friendly way, to all players of every age and skill level.
BAYSA offers both in-house/recreational and competitive travel teams. Our teams practice and play at the BAYSA Soccer Complex at 415 Joffre-Cherry Valley Road in Burgettstown, centrally located to the communities from which we draw. Typically in-house teams practice once a week on a regular schedule. In-house games are played on Saturdays against other teams within our club, within the same age group.
BAYSA's travel teams play on Sunday afternoons and compete against other competitive travel programs including Upper St. Clair, Mt. Lebanon, Wheeling, Moon Township, Peters Township, Chartiers Valley, Washington and many others. Our travel teams also compete in a variety of tournaments in the tri-state area including the PA West Open Tournament at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. BAYSA's travel players are very talented and perform highly in their divisions. Many of our teams have consistently taken first and second place in their divisions, season after season.
BAYSA's coaches are nationally licensed. BAYSA offers coaching education opportunities for all its coaches. All BAYSA head and assistant coaches are required to maintain their Youth Soccer Coaching Certification certified by the United States Soccer Federation. BAYSA has many coaches who also hold their National E License, State D License, National D License, and National C License in soccer coaching, licensed by the United States Soccer Federation. All BAYSA games are refereed by fully certified referees, licensed by the US Soccer Federation. All BAYSA coaches, assistant coaches, board members, referees, and other volunteers are required to maintain appropriate state and federal child abuse history clearances.
BAYSA is operated nearly completely by volunteers. BAYSA is a growing organization and is always looking for anyone willing to serve as a coach, assistant coach, line painter, concession stand management team member, spirit shop management team member, fundraising committee member, spring picnic committee member, or otherwise help in any possible way. It takes many people to run a successful league, but with the commitment of all of our dedicated families and volunteers, we will be sure to see continued growth and success for many, many years to come. If you wish to volunteer in any way for BAYSA, please contact any of our board of directors.
