2025 Youth Summer Sailing Camp

Youth Sailing Camp

This week-long sailing camp is perfect for youth ages 8 to 12 who are ready to have fun, build confidence, and learn the basics of sailing in a safe, supportive environment.

Campers will be learning to sail in Optimist sailboats (Optis)—small, single-sail boats designed especially for younger sailors who weigh 120 pounds or less. These boats are easy to handle, highly stable, and tons of fun—ideal for learning the fundamentals of sailing.

Throughout the week, campers will learn:

Basic sailing terminology and boat parts

How to rig and de-rig an Opti sailboat

Wind awareness and points of sail

Steering and sail control

Water safety and right-of-way rules

Teamwork, responsibility, and problem-solving on the water

Logistics:

Location: Meet camp leaders each day at Silverdale Waterfront Park, near the base of the pier.

Dates & Time: Monday–Friday, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Check-in/out: A parent or guardian must check each camper in and out daily.

Cost: $250 per session

No prior sailing experience is necessary—just a love of water, adventure, and trying something new!

Cancellation Policy

Participant Cancellations:

If you cancel at least 72 hours prior to the start of your camp session, you will receive a full refund minus a 10% processing fee.

No refunds will be issued if a camper is dismissed from the program due to a violation of camp rules, safety guidelines, or if the camper chooses not to continue once the session has begun.

Camp Cancellations / Illness:

If the camp session is canceled by us or your child is unable to attend due to illness (with physician verification), we will provide a prorated refund based on the number of days missed.

Inclement Weather & Unforeseeable Events:

In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, it may be necessary to cancel one or more camp days. Should this occur, we will notify you by 8:00 AM on the day of class via email (or earlier if possible).

Please ensure we have your current email address on file.

Note: We do not provide make-up classes or refunds for cancellations due to weather or other events beyond our control.

Fortunately, we have not had to cancel a class to date.
