Is the game/practice on for today?

Each city may close its fields if they are saturated, in order to prevent damage.  If the call is obvious, the city sends notice early in the day.  If the situation is marginal, the city often waits to see whether the sunshine/wind make the fields playable.  Often times the decision is left to the coaches or referees at game time. Whenever we receive the notice, we'll forward it to coaches/managers, usually by a blast email.  Coaches will then communicate to your team.  If rescheduling is going to happen details will be provided when available.

The city of Apple Valley also has a hotline number that you can check: 952.953.2399 then press 1 and press 2.

How to become a first-time ref for the Summer 2016

To referee for VAA or Valley United, you must be certified by the MNSRC (Minnesota State Referee Committee), an independent agent of US Soccer.  Here's the process to follow:

1. Go to www.minnesotasrc.com, set up an account, and sign in as a new referee

2. Pay the required registration fees ($60)

3. Select the Grade 9 or Grade 8 track

4. Complete the online training for your track, which requires 3-5 hours.

5. Sign-up for and attend a class near you during the winter.  In 2014, there is a class at Valley Middle School- see the home page.  (Grade 9 class lasts 4 hours, Grade 8 lasts 8 hours)

6. If 18 years of age or older, complete the MYSA background check.

7. Complete the on-line concussion tutorial (45 mins.)
