Spring / Summer Season
Registration
Registration for the Spring / Summer season opens on January 1 and closes in early February.
Season Details
- The season consists of 10-12 games to be played from late April through June. The total number of league games depends on the number of teams in each bracket.
- Coaches are allowed to reschedule games prior to schedules being published. Please let the club/coach know if you will be gone during the season so that we may plan accordingly.
- Teams may choose to register for an in-season tournament.
- Teams may qualify for a league tournament based on their performance in the season. The tournament will take place during the last week of June.
- Teams may choose to register for the state tournament. The tournament is organized and run by the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA). The tournament takes place during the 2nd or 3rd weekend in July and is held in the St. Cloud area.
Team Formation
The St. Peter Soccer Club board forms teams based on the number of players available at each level, the experience of the players at each level, and the number of coaches at each level. Players may be moved up into a higher age group, but may not be moved down. We are a relatively small club with limited resources. We do our best to form teams so that each player has the opportunity to compete at a level that allows them to have fun and develop.
Competition Levels
The Southern Minnesota Soccer League (SMSL), in consultation with its clubs, decides the level of play for each team. A team may be promoted from D3 to D2 or relegated from D2 to D3 based on its performance in the previous season.
D3 Competition
- This is the lowest level of competition that our league offers.
- This level is meant for teams and players that are still developing.
- League play is typically restricted to a localized area of the state.
D2 Competition
- The D2 level is the highest level of competition that our league offers.
- This level is meant for skilled teams to compete against other skilled teams.
- League play may range across the entirety of Southern Minnesota (south of the Twin Cities).

Practice
Practice times and locations are determined by the coaches and field availability. Most teams practice two to three times per week for 60 to 90 minutes.
Uniforms / Equipment
Each player must have shin guards, soccer shoes, a ball and a uniform kit to participate on a competitive soccer team. See our uniforms page for more details on how to purchase a uniform kit.
Volunteer Requirement
Each SPSC family that participates in the spring / summer season is required to volunteer at a club event once during the calendar year. A $75 volunteer deposit is assessed to each family. Volunteer opportunities begin January 1st and end October 31st. See the volunteers page for more details.
Financial Aid
The St. Peter Soccer Club has a limited number of scholarships for families that qualify for the school free/reduced meal program. These scholarships are funded by Connecting Kids, the City of St. Peter, and the St. Peter Soccer Club. Each family that receives a scholarship will need to pay a $50 registration fee and purchase a uniform kit, socks, shoes, and shin guards if they do not already own them. Scholarships will be granted on a first-come first-served basis.
