This is your chance to say: “I helped build that.”
  • Design smart plans to get girls at your school and across the region into the league.
  • Invite girls into something new, fun, and competitive that builds friendships and confidence.
  • Work directly with BRYC Girls Flag leadership on a real, high-impact project.
I Want To Lead This - Volunteer role • High-impact project • Built for future leaders

What Is a Deputy Commissioner?

Deputy Commissioners are student leaders who help launch and grow the BRYC Girls Flag League. You’re not just hanging flyers—you’re building the playbook for how girls across the region discover, join, and thrive in girls’ flag football.

Your Mission
Grow the League & Grow the Girls

Your mission is two-fold: help build a successful league and help girls get a meaningful experience from it—social, physical, and character growth.

  • Encourage girls to register and try Girls Flag for the first time—or come back for more.
  • Help them land on teams where they feel welcomed, challenged, and supported.
  • Create chances for girls to build friendships, resilience, and leadership through the sport.
  • Show that Girls Flag can be their sport, their community, and a place they belong.
What You’ll Do
Lead Like a Founder

This is a real leadership role, not just a title.

  • Map out how to reach girls at your school and nearby schools.
  • Organize interest meetings, “bring a friend” days, or intro clinics.
  • Coordinate with coaches, club leaders, and student groups to build support.
  • Share information through social media, group chats, and school channels.
Why It Matters
Build Something That Lasts

This Girls Flag league has never existed in Northern Virginia before. You’ll be helping start something that outlives your time in high school.

  • Shape a brand-new sports movement for girls in the DMV.
  • Give future players a league and community they wouldn’t have without you.
  • Learn how to grow a “real” program—planning, outreach, and culture-building.
  • Leave behind a legacy that keeps growing after you graduate.
Real Impact • Real Experience • Real Leadership
This is the kind of project colleges, scholarships, and future employers notice: growing something from the ground up, serving female student-athletes, and making your community better.

Who Should Step Up?

You don’t have to be a star athlete to be a Deputy Commissioner. You just have to care about girls’ sports, love a challenge, and be willing to lead.

You might be
The Founder-Type

You’re the person who starts things—clubs, group chats, scrimmages, service projects. You like taking an idea and turning it into something real.

Or maybe
The Connector

You know how to bring people together. You’re plugged in across teams, classes, and friend circles and you like helping people find their place.

Or even
The Quiet Grinder

You don’t need the spotlight, but you love big goals and you’re willing to do the work behind the scenes. This league will need people exactly like you.

Location
We’re especially looking for students from high schools in Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC who want to help lead the growth of Girls Flag in their school and across the region.
