🚨 Important Update: New Tryout & Registration Process for the 2026 Season

The Cambridge-Isanti Soccer Club (CISC) is implementing a new tryout and registration process for the 2026 season! These changes will better align team formation with player development and provide families with a clearer path to securing a spot on a team.

➡️ Please note: The recreational soccer registration process will not change at this time. These updates apply only to competitive team registration.

What’s Changing?

Previously, registration followed a two-step process:

  • Fall registration opened July 1 and closed August 1.
  • Spring registration opened in October, with teams being finalized in January.

For the 2026 season, we are shifting to a new tryout-based timeline to streamline team formation and registration.

New Tryouts & Registration Timeline

Tryout Dates by Age Group

Players must register for tryouts (free of charge) and attend one of two possible dates to be considered for a team.

  • U12 and Under (Born 2014 or later)
    • June 29, 2025
    • July 13, 2025
  • U13 and Older (Born 2013 or earlier)
    • July 20, 2025
    • August 3, 2025

Team Formation & Registration Deadlines

  • Fall 2025 Teams Announced: On or about August 4, 2025
    • Players selected for fall teams must submit full registration payment at that time.
  • Spring 2026 Teams Announced: On or about August 15, 2025
    • A $50 deposit is required by August 31, 2025, to confirm a spot on the spring roster.

New Payment Plan Options

Families now have the flexibility to choose from monthly or quarterly payment plans:

  • 50% of total registration fee due by December 31, 2025
  • Full payment due by April 30, 2026

Updated Refund Policy

  • No refunds will be issued once fall teams are registered.
  • For the spring season, families may request a 50% refund of registration fees if requested before December 31, 2025.
  • No refunds will be issued after January 1, 2026, except under extenuating circumstances, which will be reviewed by the board for possible pro-rated refunds.

Why Are We Making These Changes?

  • Earlier Team Formation: This allows coaches and families more time to prepare for the season.
  • Improved Player Placement: Tryouts ensure that players are placed on teams that match their skill level and development needs.
  • Flexible Payment Options: Families now have the option to spread out registration costs over multiple months.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Why is CISC changing the registration process?

We are moving to a tryout-based timeline to improve player placement, allow for earlier team formation, and provide families with more flexible payment options.

2. Does my child have to attend both tryout dates for their age group?

No, players only need to attend one tryout date for their age group.

3. Is there a fee to register for tryouts?

No, tryout registration is free.

4. How are players selected for teams?

CISC Board members will evaluate tryout results along with end-of-season evaluations from coaches. Players will be placed on teams that best match their abilities and meet MYSA roster requirements.

5. What happens if my child does not make a team?

CISC strives to roster every interested player on a team. If your child does not make a team initially, CISC will continue to evaluate ways to increase registration and potentially create additional roster space by forming new teams.

6. Can I still sign up for the spring season if my child does not play in the fall?

Yes! Spring teams will be formed separately, with rosters announced on August 15, 2025. Players must submit a $50 deposit by August 31, 2025 to confirm their spot.

7. What if we change our minds after registering for a team?

  • Fall Teams: No refunds will be issued once teams are registered.
  • Spring Teams: A 50% refund of registration fees is available if requested before December 31, 2025. After January 1, 2026, refunds will only be considered under extenuating circumstances and reviewed by the board.

8. How does the new payment plan work?

Families can choose to pay in full upfront or sign up for monthly or quarterly installment plans:

  • 50% of total registration fee is due by December 31, 2025.
  • Full payment must be made by April 30, 2026.

9. Can my child “play up” in an older age group?

Yes, players may be considered to "play up" based on skill level and team needs. If interested, please indicate this preference during tryout registration.

We appreciate your support as we implement this new and improved process for the 2026 season. If you have any questions, please contact our registrar at [email protected].

We look forward to an exciting season ahead! âš˝
