Recreation Team Program (Ages 6-12)

Join a team, have fun, and learn the beautiful game with our low-commitment soccer program for all skill levels! No tryout required.

Overview

The Recreation Team Program introduces players to team play and game experience in a fun, low-commitment environment. It’s perfect for players of all skill levels looking to enjoy soccer and develop their abilities in a supportive, positive team setting.

Participants enjoy a 10-game season in the Ocean County Recreational (OCR) league, a personalized uniform jersey, discounted access to our Micro Soccer Program, and access to the Recreation Skills Club—an additional opportunity for skill-building with a focus on ball mastery and fun. The season runs from April through June 2025, with all home games, practices, and skills sessions held at Drum Point Sports Complex.

Age Divisions and Team Formation

  • U7: 4v4, no goalies (team size: 6-8 players)
  • U8: 5v5 (4 field players + 1 goalie; team size: 8-10 players)
  • U9-U10: 7v7 (team size: 10-12 players)
  • U11-U12: 9v9 (team size: 12-14 players)

Teams will be announced after registration closes. Parents may request specific teammates or volunteer coaches during registration, but requests are not guaranteed. We’ll do our best to accommodate all requests.

Cost: $175.00 per player

  • Registration Deadline: March 1, 2025
  • Early Bird Discount: Save $10 if you register by January 31, 2025.
The Recreation Team Program is dependent on parent and player participation. Refunds will only be provided if we are unable to form a team at your child's age group.

What’s Included

  • 10-Game Season: Participate in OCR league games on Saturday afternoons between 12-4 PM. All home games will be at Drum Point Sports Complex.
  • Full Uniform Kit: Each player receives a uniform jersey with number, shorts, and socks.
  • Training: Weekly team training led by your volunteer coach.
  • Free Access to Recreation Skills Club (see below for details.)
  • TeamSnap Access: Stay organized with schedules, communications, and event management through the app.
  • Micro Soccer Program Discount: Recreation players receive $20 off Micro registration.

Recreation Skills Club (Friday Nights) Powered by A-Game Soccer 

The Recreation Skills Club is designed to provide supplemental technical skills training to our Recreation Team players. Powered by A-Game Soccer, sessions will feature uplifting music, motivational skill coaches, and a training curriculum that is renowned for helping thousands of players nationwide reach their full potential with their club teams. It’s a fantastic opportunity for our newest players to enhance their individual skills outside of their weekly team practice. 

  • Free for all Recreation team Players.
  • Includes 8 sessions on Friday nights at Drum Point Sports Complex.
  • Weekly 1-hour training sessions led by A-Game Soccer's professional training staff.
  • Focus on ball mastery, agility, and coordination through age-appropriate training methods.
  • Interactive, skill-based activities designed to prepare players for future competitive soccer. 

The Recreation Skills Club is perfect for players who want to:

  • Develop confidence with the ball at their feet.
  • Build essential skills to enhance their play and prepare for more competitive soccer.
  • Prepare for tryouts or future progression to our Travel Soccer Program. 

Attendance is optional but highly encouraged. Player availability must be updated via TeamSnap to participate in weekly sessions.

Required Gear (not included)

  • Shin pads
  • Soccer cleats
  • Soccer ball: #3 (U7-U8) or #4 (U9-U12)

Volunteer Coaches Needed!

Parents are encouraged to volunteer as team coaches. Coaching is a great way to support your child and the team while having fun teaching the sport you love!

  • Coaches receive training resources, practice field time, and access to TeamSnap.
  • All volunteers must complete a background check, SafeSport certification, and Concussion Education, as required by NJ Youth Soccer.
  • Coaches commit to training the team at least once per week, weather permitting.
  • Bonus: Volunteer coaches receive a free voucher for their child to participate in the current season’s Micro Soccer Program.
