MEET THE COACHES!
Robert Perry Jr.
Head Coach (13U) & Vice President (Football)
As a lover of the sport, Robert played football in both middle and high school growing up. He started his coaching journey in 2015 as a White Sox T-ball coach for Greenbrier Athletic Association for a year. In 2016, he began to coach flag football for Chesapeake Parks and Recreation for ages 8-10 youth until 2023. Robert transitioned to coaching for the Wolverines both tackle and flag football for ages 12-13 youth until now. He became the football commissioner of the Wolverine League in 2024, and transitioned on January 2025 to the Vice President of the Wolverine League and it considers it to be both a learning and great experience!
Robert's coaching style is to make sure his players can follow strategies. He believes in developing skills through real-game scenarios and drills. Robert focuses on each player's strength and build on that as well as helping each player in the areas that need work. He strongly believes that a player should show improvement as we progress in the season. "It's about progress and if I can encourage my players to work with me to do that, then I believe I have done my job as a coach."
Fun Fact: On his downtime, both Robert and his son enjoy gaming. One thing on Robert's bucket list is to go skydiving!
Chad Whidden
Defensive Coordinator (11U) & President, Chesapeake Wolverines
Chad Whidden has been a dedicated leader within the Chesapeake Wolverines organization since 2021, stepping up as the Head Coach of the 10U team in the wake of COVID. His passion and commitment to the program led him up the leadership ladder, and in January 2025, he proudly took on the role of President.
Specializing in the development of kickers, punters, and safeties, Chad's coaching philosophy goes beyond football. He believes in shaping young athletes into respectful, disciplined individuals who understand the value of family, hard work, and integrity. He emphasizes the importance of respecting parents--honoring Mom and Dad both on and off the field--and carrying those values into everyday life.
Under Chad's leadership, the Chesapeake Wolverines continue to be a program that not only builds strong athletes but also instills character, teamwork, and a deep respect for the family values that shape future leaders.
Fun Fact: Before leading the Chesapeake Wolverines, Coach & President Chad was a standout athlete and leader in the Navy. He served as Captain and Coach of Navy soccer and flag football teams, leading them to multiple championships. Coach DL Williams brings passion, experience, and purpose to the 8U Wolverines. He is a loving husband, devoted father, and most of all, a follower of Christ. A former defensive player at Alabama State University, Coach Williams began playing football at age six, and has loved the game ever since.
For his family, football is more than a game--it's a family legacy. Following in his footsteps, his oldest son was drafted into the NFL and now coaches at the collegiate level, while his two younger sons are actively pursuing their own passion for playing the game.
Coach Williams brings coaching experience as a former middle school head coach in Atlanta, GA, and as a former volunteer head coach for youth flag football.
