Central Springfield Little League is thrilled to announce the launch of our inaugural softball season, starting Spring 2025! While we are working to grow our Softball program to additional ages, Spring 2026 is open to girls ages League Age 6–12, with three Divisions: Minors Coach Pitch Division and Minors Player Pitch Division, and Majors Division.
Minors Coach Pitch Division (Single A)
Open to girls Ages 6–8 years old.
Minors Coach Pitch softball is focused on building confidence on the field and beginning fundamentals and skills for softball players who are either moving up from tee ball or just starting to play the game. While outs and runs will be kept, the focus is instructional and developing essential skills from fielding, hitting, catching and pitching.
Pitching is done by a coach or manager and is not “pitched” in the traditional sense from a mound, but usually from a closer distance with less force to allow players to gain skill and confidence hitting a pitched ball.
Rosters are usually comprised of around 8-10 players. All players are listed on the batting line-up, and all players will rotate field play each game in a variety of positions in order to continue to deepen position-specific skills.
Minors Player Pitch Division (AAA)
Eligibility: Open to girls: Experienced League Age 8 year olds –11 years old.
Drafting: Players in this division selected and drafted to teams after attending assessments.
Minors Player Pitch softball is focused on building a player’s skills and beginning to identify specific position skills and training. Pitching is done by players and attention is provided to teaching pitchers the fundamentals and mechanics of the position while ensuring the safety and health of the players.
Rosters usually have 12 players on a team and players are The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 35 feet.

Majors Division
The Majors Division is our most advanced softball league, open primarily to girls League Ages 11–12 years old. This division focuses on competitive play and the refinement of advanced skills. Coaches emphasize strategic play, specialized position development, and mastering the fundamentals with greater speed and accuracy.
Eligibility: Open to girls League Ages 11 and 12.
Drafting: Players are drafted based on experience demonstrated during assessments.
Experienced 10-year-olds who attend Evaluations are eligible for the Majors draft and may be drafted to a Majors team.
10 and 11-year-olds who are not drafted onto a Majors team will be automatically drafted onto a Minors team.
Team Roster: Rosters typically have 12 players on a team.
Field Specifications: The field uses a 60-foot diamond, and the pitching distance is 40 feet. (Note: Standard Little League Majors softball pitching distance is 40 feet, updated from the Minors distance of 35 feet.)

Q: What is League Age?
A: “League Age” is the chart Little League uses to determine the division your player is eligible for. The Age Determination Date for Softball and Baseball is different. Softball League Age is determined by the player’s actual age on December 31st of the previous year. Click here to use the Little League Age Determination tool.
Q: Is my player is younger than 6, what are her options for playing diamond sports at CSLL?
A: Currently, CSLL provides co-ed baseball divisions for Tee-ball, Coach-Pitch, A-ball (Machine Pitch), Minors, and Majors. Players younger than 6 will play Tee-ball or Coach-pitch based on age and request.
Q: My player doesn’t want to play softball, is she require to switch?
A: No, girls can continue to play baseball as CSLL if they choose. While we see the many benefits of offering Girls Softball, CSLL will not force any girls into softball program.
Q: My player is 12 but wants to play softball. Is she allowed?
A. Yes, CSLL has opened a Majors division focused towards girls 12 years old and experienced 10 and 11 year olds. We are starting with a Waitlist to gauge interest
