Our Recreation Soccer Program: Age Groups and Opportunities
Our recreation soccer program is designed to cater to a range of age groups, providing a fun and engaging experience for young players at different stages of their development. We currently offer programs for the following age groups: U8, U10, U12, and U15. Each age group is tailored to meet the specific needs of the players, ensuring that they receive the appropriate level of coaching, competition, and support.
U8 (Under 8)
Our U8 program is an introduction to the world of soccer for our youngest players. At this stage, the focus is on fundamental skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting, as well as understanding the basic rules of the game. The emphasis is on fun and participation, with plenty of opportunities for players to learn in a supportive and encouraging environment.
U10 (Under 10)
As players move into the U10 age group, they begin to refine their skills and develop a deeper understanding of the game. The U10 program builds on the basics learned in U8, introducing more advanced techniques and strategies. Players start to engage in more structured games, where teamwork and sportsmanship are emphasized, preparing them for the next level of competition.
U12 (Under 12)
The U12 program is designed for players who are ready to take their skills to the next level. At this stage, there is a greater focus on tactical awareness, game strategy, and positional play. Coaches work closely with players to enhance their technical abilities while also encouraging them to think critically about their roles on the field. The competition becomes more structured, with an emphasis on both individual and team development.
U15 (Under 15)
Our U15 program is coed and is for players who are nearing the transition to more competitive levels of soccer. This program focuses on advanced skills, physical conditioning, and a deeper understanding of the tactical aspects of the game. Players are encouraged to take on leadership roles within their teams, developing not only their athletic abilities but also their character and teamwork. The U15 program prepares players for the challenges of high school soccer and beyond.
U19 (Under 19)
Our U19 program like the U15 is coed and is designed for players who are reaching the peak of their youth soccer experience and are ready to refine their skills at an advanced level. At this stage, the focus is on perfecting technique, achieving peak physical conditioning, and deepening tactical knowledge to prepare players for the demands of collegiate or competitive adult soccer.
Players in the U19 program are encouraged to take on greater responsibility within their teams, both on and off the field. Leadership, strategic thinking, and adaptability are emphasized, as players learn to make quick, informed decisions under pressure. Coaches work closely with players to develop advanced game strategies and position-specific skills, enabling them to play with confidence in a variety of game scenarios.
Each of these programs is designed to foster a love for the game, develop essential soccer skills, and provide a positive experience for every player. Whether your child is just starting out in U8 or preparing for more competitive play in U15, our recreation soccer program offers the support and opportunities they need to succeed and enjoy the beautiful game.
Birth Certificates
The submission of a birth certificate is now mandatory for all players in CJSA-insured programs. This requirement helps confirm each player's age, ensuring that they are placed in the correct age group for competition. It also helps to prevent any potential discrepancies or misunderstandings regarding player eligibility, promoting fairness across all levels of play.
Photographs for Player Passes
In addition to a birth certificate, a recent photograph of each player is required for their player pass. The player pass, which includes the photograph, is used to verify the player's identity during games. This step adds an extra layer of security and ensures that all players on the field are who they claim to be, maintaining the integrity of the competition.
By adhering to these new requirements, CJSA aims to create a more transparent and equitable environment for all participants. These measures help protect the fairness of the game while also ensuring that every player’s identity and eligibility are accurately verified, contributing to a smoother and more organized soccer season for everyone involved.

COACHES AND VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are the heart and soul of recreation soccer. Their dedication, passion, and selflessness create a nurturing environment where young players can learn, grow, and thrive. Without volunteers, the magic of community soccer wouldn't be possible. They bring energy, enthusiasm, and a love for the game that inspires everyone around them. Whether it's coaching, organizing events, or supporting families, volunteers make a significant difference, turning a simple sports program into a vibrant and inclusive community. Their contributions go beyond the field, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of the players and the community as a whole.
In the world of recreation soccer, coaches hold a unique and vital position. They are not just instructors but mentors, role models, and facilitators of growth. Unlike in competitive or elite levels of the sport, where winning often takes center stage, recreation soccer coaches focus on nurturing a love for the game, fostering development, and ensuring that each player has a positive, enriching experience. If you are interested in volunteering as a coach follow this link to find out more information: VOLUNTEER
In a brief overview, each volunteer in recreation soccer is required to complete SafeSport training, Concussion training, and undergo a Background Check. These requirements are essential for maintaining a safe and secure environment for the young athletes.
SafeSport training helps volunteers understand and prevent abuse, harassment, and bullying, ensuring that every child feels protected and respected. Concussion training educates volunteers on the signs and symptoms of concussions, enabling them to take quick and appropriate action if an injury occurs, which is crucial for the long-term health of the players. The Background Check is an important step in safeguarding the integrity of the program, ensuring that all adults involved have been thoroughly vetted.
By completing these requirements, volunteers not only comply with regulations but also demonstrate their commitment to the well-being and safety of the children they serve. This commitment builds trust with parents and players, reinforcing the positive impact of the recreation soccer program.
