NECONN Soccer Seasonal Play Outline

Recreation Soccer Program

The Neconn Soccer Club offers a spring and fall recreational and travel soccer experience for
players from Brooklyn, Eastford, Killingly, Pomfret, Putnam, Thompson and
Woodstock. The ages range from 4-14 in the fall and 4-18 in the spring.

The spring season traditionally starts around the third week in April, with
practices occurring about two weeks before this, and continues for seven weeks,
skipping Memorial Day Weekend. The fall season starts the weekend after Labor
Day, and continues for eight weeks skipping Columbus Day Weekend. The
practice time, day and location are completely determined by the respective team
coaches. They generally run for about an hour, usually between 5:00 pm and 7:30
pm, and occur once or twice per week. Games are on Saturdays, with some age
groups playing on Friday evenings or Saturday evenings at our lighted field in
Putnam and Thompson. All players that participate must be properly registered,
must be wearing shin pads, soccer socks covering the shin pads, and cannot wear
earrings. We also strongly recommend wearing soccer cleats for added grip while
playing and practicing.

Our age group and game times are as follows:

U6 Micro (4 and 5 year old) Saturday mornings or afternoon. More info below.
Micros are hosted at Woodstock Elementary School or Woodstock Middle School
or Rawson Field Putnam

Saturday 6:00 pm Home games at Riverside Park N. Grosvenordale

U15 Senior (12, 13 and 14 year old) Saturday 12:30 pm

U19 Super Senior ( 14-18 year old) Saturday 3:00 pm (Spring season only)
Home games Rawson Field and/or Pomfret Rec Field

We also play away games against teams located in Canterbury and Plainfield at
various fields located in their town.

U6 Micro program is a clinic style program that uses paid coaches to work with
the players registered. We run this in three, one hour time slots, to facilitate the
training of 120-140 players. Parent volunteers are encouraged to help the two
coaches work with the 35-40 players that participate each hour. The players will
play soccer skill based games that work on their ability to dribble, pass and shoot
a soccer ball during the bulk of the session. When they become adept enough
with these skills, the coaches will organize short 3 v 3 games at the end of their
one hour session to give them a game-like experience.

NECONN United Travel Program

Our travel program is a competitive tryout based program for players that want
more than a recreational experience. We offer male and female teams from U9
to U19 age groups. Tryouts are held at the end of the spring season, generally in
early June, for fall and spring play during the next seasonal year. Most of our
travel teams play in Super Liga, a Rhode Island based league for travel teams, and
some play in the Connecticut Northeast District League. These teams compete in
their respective league during the fall and spring season. These teams often play
indoor soccer for one or more sessions from November to March, and also may
participate in tournaments during school vacations, long weekends and during the
summer.

Girls High School Summer Soccer Program

Neconn also offers a girls 8 v 8 summer soccer league hosted at the new Killingly
High School’s turf field. This league runs on Monday and Wednesday evenings,
for six weeks, starting in the last week of June and ending the first week in
August. High school based teams from Killingly, Woodstock, Parish Hill,
Tourtellotte, Windham and Griswold have participated in the past.
