Co-Founded by Nico Mannion, Cameron Katal, and Jeremy Koven, the Hooperverse is a Youth Basketball League for boys, girls, and non-binary children between the ages of 8 to 14 years old. Based in San Luis Obispo County, California, and the winter season of the league will take place on weekends from November 12th 2022 - February 19th 2023. Our motto is "any child can play, whether or not they can pay."

Scholarships are available to help pay for league fees.

*Any parent who would like to fill out a scholarship application may do so HERE . Filling out a form doesn't guarantee a scholarship.

We are here to provide opportunities for children to play organized, league basketball, learn life skills, create friendships, and for parents and caregivers to experience the joy that comes with seeing their kids grow and develop.

Our league is meant to be a source of fun and enjoyment for the community’s youth, while building character and self-esteem. We strive to teach life lessons that will have value beyond the basketball court.

Make the Extra Pass Foundation (MTEP)

https://www.hooperverse.com/ is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded in 2022, which awards scholarships, funding and grants to people and organizations who are unlocking the potential of kids and teens within their neighborhoods through athletics. MTEP is a division of the Hooperverse  https://www.hooperverse.com/, founded by NBA player Nico Mannion https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nico_Mannion and local SLO residents Jeremy Koven and Cameron Katal.

Starting with the basketball community, MTEP is empowering existing teams and leagues as well as creating training programs and leagues for young and aspiring athletes.

The targeted recipients of the efforts of the MTEP foundation are families with children from approx. age 8 to 18 from underserved communities that don’t have the privately funded resources and networks for children to experience the growth, development and self-esteem that comes from playing sports, being part of a team, developing skills and making progress while achieving the goals they set for themselves.

We are leveling the playing field and democratize access to athletics, training and team play by providing financial support for high quality education, academic resources, athletic equipment, league fees, health, wellness and nutrition training.

We also seek to partner with like-minded organizations and their communities to create even greater impact together.

Recipients and Partners include:  The Watts Skill Academy https://wattsskillsacademy.net/ basketball program for boys & girls in South Central Los Angeles, Inglewood College Preparatory https://mobile.twitter.com/theicpschool in Inglewood, CA and the Rise & Achieve Youth Sports https://www.riseandachieveyouthsports.com/ in Santa Maria, CA.

Hooperverse's Mission is to develop and deliver quality youth Basketball programs which promote a fun, family environment based on our core philosophies:

  • Everyone Plays Regardless of Skill
  • Character Building
  • Balanced Teams
  • Open Registration
  • Positive Coaching
  • Good Sportsmanship
