Washington County Homeschool Athletics

Organizational Information

About Us:

Washington County Home School Athletics exists for the purpose of providing home-schooled young people with the opportunity to participate in organized competitive sports. We strive to use this experience to build godly character, create friendships, instill dedication and commitment to personal and team goals, foster spiritual growth, and above all to honor Jesus Christ as a godly witness. Many families homeschool to provide tailored education, and our organization commits to providing a physical and spiritual outlet for homeschool students. Our organization is purely run by a group of parent volunteers and their families.

Commitment to Spiritual and Physical Youth Protection:

WCHSA will make every reasonable effort to meet each player’s spiritual and physical needs.  Some ways we hope to accomplish this are by:

  • Interviewing each coach and requiring that they express a clear profession of faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior
  • Requiring at least two board-approved adults at each practice session; for boys, at least one of which will be an adult man — and for girls, at least one of which will be an adult woman
  • Encouraging appropriate attitude, behavior, and actions during all practices and games
  • Discouraging spectators from attending practice times to reduce player distraction and allow players and coaches to better focus on team objectives.

Vision & Statement of Faith

WCHSA Vision:

It is our aim to display the Glory of God through organized sports by:

  • Honoring and glorifying God with our minds and bodies, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to Jesus Christ and His Work

  • Supporting families in their efforts to raise godly children, teach Christian principles, and encourage Godly character

  • Supporting the body of Christ in the tasks of discipleship and communicating the gospel

  • Deepening our interpersonal relationships as we prepare for a life of Christian ministry

  • Experiencing the transforming power of the Gospel by knowing the beauty of Christ and seeing his glory made visible to others

  • Faithfully serving Christ with our gifts and abilities

  • Displaying the infinite value of Christ to others through our work, play, competition, and in everyday life

1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

2. We believe that there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19) Rev. 9/10/08

3. We believe in the deity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. (Deity-John 1:1) (Atonement-Hebrews 9:15-22) (Virgin Birth-Matthew 1:18, 25) (Bodily Resurrection-1 Corinthians 15:1-8) (Sinless Life-Hebrews 4:15) (Personal Return-Hebrews 9:27-28)

4. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful men and women regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. (John 3:16; John 5:24; Titus 3:3-7)

5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. (John 14:15-26; John 16:5-16; Ephesians 1:13,14)

6. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. (Matthew 25:31-46, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

7. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. (Philippians 2:1-4)

8. We believe salvation is God’s gracious gift, obtained through faith in Jesus Christ’s death, burial and resurrection, and cannot be earned through our efforts. (Ephesians 2:8-10, Romans 10:9-13) WCHSA’s ministry presents Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior by evangelism through fellowship. WCHSA centers on our relationship with Christ and others rather than promoting any particular denominational issue.

Certain doctrinal issues are a part of the Christian experience for many; however, WCHSA chooses not to focus on these but on the Gospel of Christ.

God desires His children to lead pure lives of holiness. The Bible is clear in teaching on sexual sin including sex outside of marriage and homosexual acts. Neither heterosexual sex outside of marriage nor any homosexual act constitute an alternate lifestyle acceptable to God. While upholding God’s standard of holiness, WCHSA strongly affirms God’s love and redemptive power in the individual who chooses to follow Him. WCHSA’s desire is to encourage individuals to trust in Jesus and turn away from any impure lifestyle.
