NOTE: We have canceled some sessions on Saturday, May 14th due to registration numbers. We will still be fielding teams for those age groups, but we no longer need evaluations.
All Tryouts will be held at Oakwood Park.
We encourage ALL players to attend both sessions!
Tryouts are held every Spring, and all new and returning players must attend. The objective of the evaluations are to assess each players’ abilities to determine appropriate team placement. The New Providence Soccer Club accepts players of all abilities.
For existing players, in addition to the tryout itself, the team’s coach and trainer will provide an evaluation based on the player’s performance during the season. Once the tryout process is completed, the NPSC Tryout Committee will evaluate all findings and recommendations. Evaluations are strictly confidential. They are only made known to the members of the New Providence Soccer Club Tryout Committee. Stuart Soccer conducts the tryouts.
All boys and girls age groups will have an identical evaluation process. The goal is the same for both small and large-sided teams: to have a fair, impartial and thorough tryout process.
Pre-registration is required to ensure the player’s information is available for the tryout. Following the tryout, communications will be sent to families with notification of acceptance and team placement.
Please arrive 15 minutes before your age group’s time slot to check-in and be sure children wear shin guards and bring plenty of water for the tryout.

We strongly encourage kids to attend BOTH tryouts. But we understand that schedules can get in the way - sometimes even NPSC games can get in the way. If they can only attend one tryout, your child won't be at a disadvantage.
Playing up: If the parents of a player are interested in playing on a team with older players (ie. a U10 player playing on a U11 team) please be aware of the following:
- New Providence Soccer Club strongly suggests for all players to play within their respective age groups. Safety is our number one priority. However we understand that there will be exceptions from time to time for certain players to play above their age group.
- As noted, safety is first and foremost and while a child may demonstrate being ahead of his peers from a physical and technical standpoint the emotional aspect cannot be ignored and may be the most important criteria to determine if a child should play up.
- If you still would like your child to play up, please bring them to the tryout for the age group above them (children are not allowed to play up more than one birth year) and let us know at check in that you'd like for them to be evaluated among the older children.
- We will place your child on a team in the age group they tryout for. If your child does not qualify for the Select team in that age group, they will be placed on a Travel team in that age group. We will not return them to their birth year if they do not qualify for the select team as we have in the past.
