GET FIRED UP WITH THE GREEN HILL HAWK CHEERLEADERS!
Cheerleading for ages 5 to 13

Lead the crowd with your
Hawk spirit!

Join the Green Hill Hawks cheer family and fall in love with this fun, exciting, and growing sport. Our cheerleaders learn cheers, chants, jumps, stunts, and dances. These are performed on the sideline and at half-time during both home and away football games.

Our program focuses on building and teaching not only the skills needed for the sport but also community, sportsmanship, and self-confidence.

Never cheered before, don’t worry! Here on the Hill, we provide opportunities and instruction for all skill levels from sideline to local and travel competition cheer.

Please note Cheerleading is a group sport and your squad members and coaches rely on you to be present, prepared, and attentive. All members of the squad need to attend both practices and games to get the full experience of cheerleading. In our experience, our Hawks love stunting and that cannot be done if everyone isn’t fully present and had the opportunity to practice.

We provide athletic opportunities for beginners to experienced  cheerleaders.

Practices

Camp Week (aka our first week of sideline practice) will be the week of July 29, 2024. Practices are held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6:30pm-8:00pm at Green Hill Church. We use this week to get to know your cheerleader and to teach our core cheers and chants. We highly encourage theme participation as we award the spirit stick to one group each night based on participation and the overall spirit of the group. However, this should be a fun experience for all so if your cheerleader doesn’t want to dress in theme it is no problem. After camp week your cheerleader will be assigned to a squad and they will begin practicing as a squad the week following camp.

Each camp day will have a theme as follows:
Monday Jul 29 – Wacky Tacky Day
Tuesday Jul 30 – NFL Day
Thursday Aug 1 – Green & White Day

Sideline Squad practices will begin 8/6/24 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday through 9/5/24.

Beginning 9/9/24 sideline practices will be held on Tuesdays through the remainder of your regular season.

Any changes to your squads practice schedule will be communicated from your coach.

Athlete Placement

Cheerleaders are placed in a cheer division based on age and the following:

     •     Siblings of GHSA football players will be given first priority to their sibling’s team.

     •     Cheer siblings will be assigned to the same squad.

Friend requests are welcome, but are not always fulfilled. We will do our best to accommodate the request, but there are no guarantees. (These requests must be made prior to squad placements to be accommodated.)

•     Squads will consist of mixed ages as we place siblings together. If you have no football player sibling we will do our best to assign your cheerleader to a football team within their age division but this is not always feasible due to the number of participants in each division and the need to balance cheerleaders across squads.

Game Information

Cheerleaders should come to every game in FULL UNIFORM.

If the cheerleader does not come in full uniform, they will not be able to take the field.  This includes hair pulled up and out of the face, uniform, shoes, bow, etc.

Once your cheerleader is dropped off with their coach, please do not come get the child or remove the child from the field without the knowledge of the cheer coach.  Cheer coaches need to know where every child on the squad is at all times.

Coaches

We always need coaches and training will be provided to ensure success. Please fill out an application as soon as possible as we will have a coach's meeting on 5/19/24. If you would like to spend some time with your daughter and have lots of fun, contact our cheer directors at [email protected] .

Volunteer Opportunities

Our league runs on volunteers and as a young and growing league, we have big plans! Not only to grow the program for your child but build a program you are proud to recommend to your friends and families for years to come. Those plans require volunteers both on and off the field. We are in the process of creating committees so you can volunteer in the area you feel most called to and so that we can spread the opportunity to different people across our league. If you’d like to volunteer for cheer specifically, please reach out to us at [email protected] and let us know what you’d be interested in helping with along with your contact information so we can reach out. If you are interested in volunteering for football or just volunteering in general please email [email protected] with the same information and our football administrator will reach out to you.

Competition Squads

We are excited that this year we are offering 2 different options for competition. We will have both a local competition squad that is mirroring what we have offered in previous seasons, and new this year is our travel competition squad.

There are additional fees associated and codes of conduct for both competition squads. Details on the requirements of both programs are listed below.

Please follow us on Facebook @GHSAHawks for updates.

Local Competition Squad – Ages 5+

You can register for the local competition squad in mid-August . All cheerleaders ages 5+ will have the opportunity to participate at this level. All cheerleaders must compete in their respective age divisions regardless of their sideline squad division. This squad will have the opportunity to compete in up to 3 competitions. We will have a parent interest meeting in the fall to discuss details regarding available competitions.

Registration for the local squad is $75 and includes the following:
Additional Practice t-shirt designed for the competition squad.
Mock top/body liner that compliments the sideline top.
Competition bow
Registration for TNYFL competition.

***Any additional competitions will have additional fees and will be discussed with GHSA Leadership, Local Comp Coaches, and squad parents before committing to an additional competition.

Travel Competition Squad – Ages 7+

After our competition squad won The Battle at Rocky Top in November 2023 it seemed as if our season ended abruptly. We realized that a lot of our cheerleaders wanted more and the opportunity to compete in more competitions. From that, the idea for our travel competition squad was born.

This is our newest competition offering and unlike any other rec league programs in the area. Our goal for this team is to build the skill and experience our league cheerleaders need to make and excel on our middle school and high school squads. Due to the competitive nature of this squad we are holding tryouts. This program will begin as early as June and can continue through April depending on the success of the squad when competing for bids throughout the season.

Requirements for the travel competition squad include but are not limited to the following:

Cheerleader must be 7 or older. (before 12/1/24)
Cheerleader must attend the GHSA clinic on 5/18/24.
(link to sign up - https://forms.gle/g3bKaEwvtKJVzSJ5A )
Cheerleader must attend the tryouts – 6/2/23 - 2pm.
Cheerleader and parent/guardian must sign and adhere to the cheer code of conduct.
Cheerleader and parent/guardian must understand this squad will compete at up to 7 competitions spanning from September 2024 through April 2025 if the squad receives any bids to larger National competitions.
Cheerleader and parent/guardian must agree to practice and competition schedule to be handed out at parent meeting after cheer clinic.
Cheerleader and parent/guardian must understand and commit to the competitions that are preplanned and, on the calendar, to be given out at the cheer clinic on May 18.
