Taylor allowed 8 hits, but struck out 12 and walked two.
In game two Brunswick routed Thurmont 29-14, banging the ball around the Thurmont park to the tune of 24 hits. Brunswick sent 17 batters to the plate in the first inning, scoring 12 runs on 8 hits along with 5 Thurmont fielding errors to get the game off to a rousing start. Todd Taylor, who went 6 for 6 with 7 RBI's, Tommy Nuse, Michael Dawson, and Brett King paced the Brunswick onslaught by collecting a combined 15 hits and scoring 14 of the locals runs, three of them coming off Taylor, Nuse and King home runs. Most of Thurmont's 14 runs came from bases on balls. Dawson, a lefthander, hurled the first two innings but was plagued with wildness. Dawson was reached for only one hit but walked 10 before finally being relieved by Backover. The righthanded Backover pitched the final 4 frames allowing 5 hits, fanning 5 but walking 7.
Tommy Nuse and Todd Taylor continued to swing potent bats, and Taylor earned his second mound victory of the District II playoffs, firing a four hitter in a 7-2 victory over Taneytown. The visiting Railroaders scored all the runs Taylor would need against Taneytown in the top of the second inning when Taylor, Nuse and Brett King scored. Taylor allowed 4 hits while he struck out 6 and walked 4. Nuse led the way with 3 hits.
In a game that took two days to complete, Brunswick defeated Westminster 3-2 on a Brett King homer in the seventh inning to give the Railroaders their 18th District title. While King provided the final heroics, pitcher Brad French was outstanding in holding Westminster to but 2 runs. French held the Carroll County league to 7 hits. He struck out 7 and walked none.

Taylor retired the first ten batters to face him in the title game, eventually striking out 10. Brunswick scored 4 runs in the second inning. The key base hits in the local's big inning were a two-run base hit into right field by Steve Goode and a Brad French single up the middle to plate two more runs for the Brunswick team.
STATES
Todd Taylor continued to dominate opposing Little League All-Star teams with his pitching, hurling Brunswick to an impressive 8-3 win over Elkton in game 1 of the State tournament being held in Westminster. Taylor allowed but 4 base hits, striking out 12 and walking 4. Brunswick hit the ball all around the park, routing one Elkton pitcher for nine base hits. The Railroaders broke the game open with a four-run second inning. A Brent King solo home run in the second inning highlighted the locals' offensive punch. Taylor gave his own pitching a big boost by collecting 3 base knocks. Brad French, Tommy Nuse, Steve Goode, Tommy Mohler and Michael Dawson added other Railroader hits.
Brunswick lost to Tri-City in game 2 by a 4-3 margin. Tri-City jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the contest. When Tri-City pushed across a run in the top of the sixth and final inning it was a tally that would mean everything. In their last at bat, Brunswick rallied to score three times, but came up just a bit short. A Tommy Nuse single started things off for the Railroaders in the sixth, followed by a two run homer by Jason Backover to make it a 4-2 game. Nick Wilt singled in Steve Goode who had singled also, but the rally ended there.
Brunswick rebounded from the loss to Tri-City on Wednesday to gain a 4-1 victory over Elkton behind the one hit pitching of Todd Taylor. Taylor struck out 8 and walked 2. The hard throwing righthander has been on the mound for 6 of the 8 Brunswick victories during All-Star competition. Elkton scored their lone run of the game in the top of the first inning on a ground out to take an early 1-0 lead. Brunswick answered quickly when Michael Dawson hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the inning. Taylor followed with a single and was promptly plated on a Tommy Nuse round-tripper. The Railroaders got a second inning run off an Elkton fielding error to make the score 4-1.
Brunswick's exciting and thrilling 1991 adventure in Little League All-Star play ended when they were edged by 9-8 by eventual State champion Tri-City. Brunswick led by as much as 7-0 before the Tri-City team responded with 9 runs over the final 5 innings to pull out the victory. Tri-City managed a run in the second and three in the third, thus making it a 7-4 Brunswick lead. After the Railroaders went up 8-4 in the top of the fourth, Tri-City came back with 4 big runs in the home fifth to tie it at 8-8. In their final at bat, Tri-City used a double and single, along with a Brunswick fielding error to garner the game's winning run. Michael Gaither added a single, and Goode had three RBI's. Tommy Mohler started and held Tri-City at bay until the fifth inning. Mohler was relieved in the fifth by Michael Dawson, who was subsequently replaced on the hill by Brad French.
Frederick National knocked visiting Brunswick into the losers bracket with a 3-0 victory. Frederick scored 2 runs in the third inning and added an insurance run in the sixth. Brunswick got 2 hits each from Jerry Nuse and Tommy Dozier, but liitle else against National starter Leroy Ambush. DISTRICTS
Brunswick's Little League All-Star team was sent to the loser's bracket of the District II playoffs when Frederick American's Chris Centenio outdueled the Railroader's Justin Frushour 2 to 1 in an old fashion pitcher's duel. Brunswick managed to scratch out 1 run on 3 hits, scoring their lone run in the sixth inning. Frushour aloowed 8 hits, striking out 8 and walking none.
Nick Fenzel hit a dramatic sixth inning two-run home run and hurled two innings of shut out baseball in leading the visiting Railroaders to an 8-6 win over Taneytown. Billy Windsor started on the hill for Brunswick and went the first four innings. Windsor allowed 6 runs on 6 hits, striking out 6 and walking 3. Fenzel struck out 4 and walked none in his two hitless innings. Windsor also hit a 3 run homer.
Brunswick was eliminated by Thurmont 9 to 6 from the District II playoffs in a game held in Thurmont. Brunswick began the final inning holding onto a slim 3-2 lead only to see Thurmont score seven times in the top half of the sixth. Despite the shock of seeing Thurmont go from a run down to a 9 to 3 lead, Brunswick came out scratching in their half of the inning. Brad Alger got things started with a lead off double. Shannon Kenney and Justin Wilt came through with back to back singles with Alger scoring off Wilt's hit. Chris Hill kept things going with a single of his own, one which chased home Kenney with Brunswick's fifth run. After one was out a Danny Renn double scored Wilt with the sixth run. Andy Strickland followed with yet another Brunswick hit to put runners at first and third. Billy Windsor then came to bat representing the tieing run. Windsor drove the ball to centerfield and the Thurmont defender reached above the outfield barrier to pull the ball down for the third out. Thurmont's centerfielder had pulled off the same feat an inning earlier on Windsor with a runner on second. Justin Frushour had held Thurmont to just two second iining runs until the nightmarish sixth. None of the seven runs scored by Thurmont in the sixth were earned. Frushour gave up 9 hits in total, five in the sixth, he struck out 4 and walked 4. Strickland relieved him in the sixth, fanning 3 and walking a batter. Brunswick ended play with ten hits and six of those didn't come until the sixth inning. Renn and Kenney led the way with two hits each.

Brad Gaither limited tough Westminster to just 3 base hits while striking out 10 in pitching Brunswick over the Carroll County team 3-1. Brunswick scored one run in the first and 2 more in the fifth for their total of 3 runs. Justin Wilt was 2 for 3 with an RBI.
In a classic Little League All-Star battle, Brunswick's Brad Gaither's long, high fly ball to deep right field scored Reese Roberts from third base with none out in the bottom of the sixth that gave the Railroaders the winning run in a 3-2 victory over Frederick National. The Railroaders had loaded the bases in the sixth on a single by Roberts, a ground rule double by Neil Howard and a walk by Ryan Main. Howard went the distance on the mound, allowing only two balls to be hit out of the infield. For the game, he allowed 3 hits, including a solo home run, stuck out 2 and walked 3. Brunswick was held to 2 hits as host Frederick American broke a scoreless deadlock with 2 runs in the top of the sixth to oust the Railroaders from District II play. The Phillies earned the right to represent Brunswick in the District II Tournament of Champions by winning their fourth straight league championship. In opening round play in Westminster, Brunswick defeated the Thurmont Blue Jays 4-2 behind the combined three-hitter from Matt Maught and Woody Conner. Garrett Hall tossed 5 hit baseball with final inning relief help from Dave Brown, leading the Phillies to a 6-2 win over the Emmittsburg Giants in second round action. Two Taneytown Padre pitchers combined to hold the Brunswick Phillies to 1 run and 6 base hits, ousting the regular season champs from the TOC by a score of 4-1. Conner went the distance on the mound for the Phils.

BRUNSWICK 6 TANEYTOWN 1
The Brunswick Little League began defending their District and State titles from a year ago with a 6-1 home win over Taneytown behind righthander Dave Brown's 6 hit, 9 strikeout pitching performance. Taneytown scored first, garnering an unearned run off Brown in the first inning. Brunswick took the lead with a big four run fourth. After Woody Conner reached base on a fielding error, the Taneytown pitcher walked the next three BRLL batters forcing in Connor with the first run. Wayne Toms blasted a ground rule double chasing home both Eric Quijada and Chris Owens with runs 2 and 3. A ground out by Mike Beachley scored Phil Custer with the final run of the inning. Solo home runs by Brown and Conner accounted for the other 2 runs for Brunswick.
BRUNSWICK 7 THURMONT 6
Tristin Ault scored from third base on a daring and calculated steal to break a 6-6 deadlock and send visiting Brunswick to a thrilling win over Thurmont in District II second round play. Ault had singled leading off the Brunswick fourth with the score knotted at 6 apiece after Thurmont had tied he score in the top half of the inning. After two walks to load the bases, Ault who was on third, started measuring the catchers throw back to the pitcher for several pitches until he felt his chances were best, then sprinted for home on his own. It wasn't even close as Ault caught Thurmont napping and scored what would be the winning run. Woody Connor went the distance allowing 6 runs on 6 hits, striking out 7 and walking 3. A 5 run Brunswick first went by the boards quickly when Thurmont countered with 5 runs of their own in the top of the second. Eric Quijada's 3 run home run sparked the Railroaders 5 run first, Dave Brown and Conner were on base when Quijada went deep. Quijada later doubled in Conner for his fourth RBI of the game in the third.
FREDERICK NATIONAL 14 BRUNSWICK 4
Visiting Frederick National held the Railroaders to 5 base hits as National knocked off Brunswick 14-4. Brunswick's Chris Owens slammed a 3 run home run in the bottom of the second inning to bring the Roaders to within two, 6-4 of the Nationals. Unfortunately that was the extent of the scoring for Brunswick. Dave Brown handled the mound duties for Brunswick.
FREDERICK AMERICAN 2 BRUNSWICK 1
Frederick American held the Railroaders to 3 hits, eliminating Brunswick 2-1 in District II play. Woody Conner was the kard luck loser allowing only single runs in the second and the fifth innings. American reached him for 5 hits while he struck out 9 but walked 7. Brunswick's only run came in the sixth inning. The rally fell short when the possible tying tally was caught in a rundown between third base and home plate.

Brunswick bats worked overtime, the defense played errorless ball and steady lefthander Kevin Norton kept East Frederick off balance at the plate. The locals four first and 6 run second put the Railroaders ahead 10-2. Brunswick peppered East Frederick pitchers for 19 runs and 13 base hits in just 4 innings. Keith Sparrow was a perfect 3 for 3 with the bat including a 3 run homer in the second. Later in the game, Geoff Harshman went long over the fence with another 3 run homer. They then added an insurance run to make the score 9-6. Sparrow took over from Kevin Norton in the fifth inning. He got through the fifth inning unscathed but in the bottom of the sixth Westminster started another rally.
