Wilmington Little League Leadership Scholarship

Wilmington Little League will award scholarships to graduating high school seniors each Spring. You do NOT need to attend WHS to qualify.

Criteria
Annual award to a deserving resident of the Town of Wilmington based on his/her contribution to the Wilmington Little League program as displayed by his/her sportsmanship, leadership and general overall attitude. Playing ability is not a consideration for this award. Player must have participated or volunteered in a Wilmington Little League program (softball or baseball) for at least four years.

Use of Scholarship
Continuing education towards a degree program or to a vocational school. The funds are paid to the student after the successful completion of student’s first college or vocational semester.

Selection Committee
The Selection Committee will be comprised of up to 7 members with a minimum of three members from Wilmington Little League as follows:

• The President of the Wilmington Little League
• The Vice President of Wilmington Little League
  
• A member or former member of the Wilmington Little League Board of Directors who is designated as the chairman of the Scholarship Committee.
• Up to four other people over the age of 21 that will be appointed by the three aforementioned Board members who may be members of the current Board of Directors or interested outside parties.
  

Process of award application: An eligible person meeting the above criteria and whose parent or guardian does NOT sit on the Board of Directors, or on the Selection Committee, is to complete an application for scholarship, previously approved by the Selection Committee. The Selection Committee will be convened by the Chairman and the Scholarship (s) will be awarded based on majority vote. It is the intent of this award to be as close as unanimous as possible. The student (s) will be announced and notified at the conclusion of the WLL season.

Source of Funds
From the cumulative net proceeds of various fundraising events held for the sole benefit of the WLL Scholarship Fund. Registration and concession “shack” proceeds are not used to fund the scholarship.
