Hello 2025 Dryden Little League Rookies Players and Parents,
We have your first Ball session on 04/22 starting at 6:00 pm sharp and it will last around
one hour and 15 minutes at the Groton Ave Ball fields in the Village of Freeville. Please
arrive at least 15 minutes prior to six.
The Coaches will be doing four short drills split into four groups, such as learning base
names and a small fielding exercise and throwing drill, a batting drill, and a base running
drill. Your player should bring a Ball glove and water only. Coaches will rotate with their
group every 15 minutes. Baseballs will be provided for these sessions, so Please do not
bring baseballs and bats to the Clinic for safety reasons. Please also leave your dogs at
home as youth ball and dogs do not mix well.
Baseball etiquette tells us to always walk behind a dugout even if a game is not being
played to get to a location; never cut through a baseball field or outfield to get where you
are going.
Weather permitting, we will try to have at least three nights of skills clinics as four groups
and then try to start games the second week of May. From April 22nd on, we will get
together every Tuesday and Thursday till the end of June. We are planning to schedule two
fun Saturday game days with Groton Little league in June on a voluntary basis.
Parking is always a concern at Groton Ave Park and the Village of Freeville has asked that,
if we do not have space to safely park in the parking lot, we only park on the right side of
Groton Ave as you face the park. The road narrows near the park and there is concern that
an Emergency Vehicle could not drive down to the fields if we parked on both sides of the
road. If the main parking lot is full, we highly recommend parking in the parking lot near the
Post Office and walking down to the park. The first parking spot is to be left open at all
events to allow room for emergency vehicles to enter the field. Please also be very
mindful of excited ball players darting out into the road or parking lots and please be
mindful of blocking driveways of the neighbors of the park.
We are likely to have four teams and we need a couple more people to volunteer to
Coach. If you can help out by Coaching, please email us at
[email protected].
Regards,
Dryden Little League
