Field Conditions Update

Good afternoon all coaches of international bb/sb, minors bb/sb, majors bb/sb, travel baseball and travel softball,

I hope I have everyone that this pertains to for people who would use 9/10.  I know it has been extremely difficult to prepare for all of our seasons. Please believe me when I sincerely say, we want all the girls and boys in the community out and about playing.  We had to be very mindful of if we force play or practice it could have ramifications of future cancellations.  I know the inconvenience, I thank you so much for understanding and trying your best to stay off.  Right now things for this week have been easy to shift Monday-Thursday and move the games to 6/18.

We have all felt the struggle, pressure, and have had to hold back even on these pretty days. I have talked to the parks Monday and  As of Monday, we were still to stay off all of the town fields as they try to get the prepped for a possible opening day for us at Veteran's Park, everything still needed to be cut twice and lined for foul lines and dimensions.. Today I called again and got a new answer, The fields 1-8 are still not ready, they will be in due time, they are still softer than 9/10.  It is important to still stay off those as they are taking longer than 9 and 10 because of elevation.

Fields 9 and 10 are now open BUT we all need to be careful of the soft areas, share the fields, keep your practices short to an hour.  If you are not using an infield or outfield, share with another team.  These are taxpayer fields, the League cannot control people's decisions as well as it is first come first serve, but I can ask all coaches to be mindful and please be a good community member to both softball and baseball in these times.  The last thing we all need, especially me and the town in trying to get this all off the ground, is emails, arguing, and issues when we are so close to making this season happen after a lot of volunteer work from the board, coaches, and personnel. ALWAYS check the park calendar if a field is reserved, if there are lines on the field check to see if there is a game that day to not ruin the crews work.

Saturday's fate will be decided tomorrow, rain is forecasted as of now, we want to see the next 48 hour forecast in the morning. We have the HS on standby but obviously would love to play at the home of GILL.

I still highly suggest finding open spaces to play/practice, please stay off the field closed fields and areas. Please realize future games hang in the balance especially with more rain in the future.  Thanks for all you do for our community and hopefully we will be in a routine very soon at the park.

Any questions please email me or a commissioner directly.
Have a great day and enjoy the sunshine.
