Bakersfield Park

Flower Mound’s Bakersfield Park Phase One opened September 11, 2004, and features eight baseball fields and six soccer fields. Phase Two was completed in 2006, and included a girls’ softball complex (fields 9, 10, & 11). The name “Bakersfield Park” is derived from Baker’s Branch Creek, which is located only 300’ west of the ball fields. Baker’s Branch Creek is within the 100-acre park boundary. Future park development will include trails and bridges, pavilions, and additional restroom facilities.

In February 2002, Flower Mound voters overwhelmingly supported a 2002 Parks and Recreation bond issue, which provided $25M for numerous facilities, including Bakersfield Park. The park is proudly owned and maintained by The Town of Flower Mound, Texas. The Flower Mound Youth Sports Association (FMYSA) serves as The Town’s youth baseball/softball facilitator. FMYSA provides programming to thousands of local children through recreational and select (competitive) teams.

Guests to Bakersfield Park will immediately notice the groomed playing fields tiered among the landscape. The eight baseball fields feature grass infields, covered dugouts & bleacher areas, and the latest innovations in sports-field lighting. A large concession & restroom building is also available for our guests. This building also contains an air-conditioned umpire dressing room and event office. A satellite restroom facility also serves our soccer fields. All baseball fields, featuring 419 Tiff Bermuda grass, are designed to accommodate multiple age groups. Batting tunnels, complete with spike-proof sports turf, are located at the north and southwest areas of the facility. In addition, eight permanent soft-toss stations, also featuring spike-proof sports turf, are scattered throughout the facility. As a result, please DO NOT hit any type of ball into chain-link fencing.

Come out and visit Bakersfield Park soon. Take in the natural beauty of the area and enjoy youth sports in a surreal environment.
