2016 Boys Varsity Season Recap

Woodland finished the 2016 season by losing in the second round of the playoffs to the eventual state champion for the second straight year. The 2016 season began with a bang starting 7-1 before losing star winger Michael Muckelvany to a season ending knee injury. Along with the loss of Micheal, Woodland had to replace several other starters as injuries and suspecsions plauged the team the entire second half of the season. With the adversity, several players were promoted from the jv team and played a major role in the team's double overtime playoff vicorty over Barnwell.

Brandon Torres provided the biggest moment in school history by converting a sudden death penalty kick on the road to knock off Barnwell in the playoffs. The scene of the team rushing the field and carrying Brandon off will be in the memories of fans for many years to come. If that wasn't enough, he followed it up with scoring a 40 yard goald against Bishop England in the second round of the playoffs. Brandon actually scored twice in the loss to the Bishops.
