MONTROSE YOUTH FOOTBALL AND CHEERLEADING PROGRAM

FAQ’s

How can I contact the MYFC Board if I have questions?

We can be reached by email at [email protected] or on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/MontroseYFCPlease add our email to your contacts as all MYFC communications are sent through email.  If you aren’t receiving our emails you will miss important information.

What if I have questions about the program, rules and teams we will be playing?

We are a member of the Central Michigan Youth Football League CMYFL for short.  Their website has all the information you could want and then some about the rules, restrictions, other areas and their locations.  Check ouhttps://www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=cmyf_2

What equipment will my child need?

For football players, he program loans everything your child will need except for cleats and a cup.  There are league rules for the type of cleats allowed; they must be molded rubber-like material, no screw-in, hard plastic, or metal cleats are allowed.

Cheerleaders are now loaned uniforms through MYFC. They will be fitted for shells and skirts at equipment handouts. Additionally, your cheerleader will need white tennis shoes (no specific brand) and a black long sleeve body suit. If there are any additional items, a list will be given by cheer coaches at the first week of practice.

What division will my child play in?

For Football players the grade of the child when we start school in the fall is the only factor unless they reach the age limit.  If your child is over the age limit for his grade, he will be moved up to the next grade where his age is within limits.

3rd and 4th grade will play together. Players cannot turn 11 by 9/1.

5th grade players cannot turn 12 by 9/1.

6th grade players cannot turn 13 by 9/1

7th grade players cannot turn 14 by 9/1

Cheerleaders are placed on varying teams.

This program is run by Volunteers.  It takes 80 volunteer hours just to host one day of home games.  Because it is imperative to the success of this program that parents volunteer we ask for a $100 volunteer deposit check per family.  This deposit is returned at equipment turn in at the end of the season provided the minimum 2 Hours (typically one game) of volunteering per athlete had been met.

What if I am interested in coaching my child's team?

If you are interested in coaching, please fill out a coach's registration form on our website during your player registration. All of our coach's must pass a background check and take online concussion training before being able to help coach at practice or games. The number of coaches per team are based on the number of players on the team to ensure a good experience.

Special Note: Per Montrose Youth Football rules, only official coaches/MYFC personnel are permitted on the practice field; for the safety of players and onlookers, parents and siblings will be required to remain behind field markers at practice.

It’s really cold or it’s raining, will there be practice or games?

Games and practice will take place in all types of weather, except when lightning is present. When in doubt, contact your coach.  In the case of inclement weather during practice, players will take shelter and you may be contacted to pick them up early.

Please look us up on Facebook and share our page with others who may be interested.  There will be a lot of useful information provided there. We will also be emailing parents thorough out the season so please make sure we have a good email address on your registration form.
